It's a SPARC running Solaris. The server is normally very robust, but it does seem to need a reboot every 2-3 weeks, and I think it was just waiting in the weeds for a good excuse. I'm certain that the file system realignment they were running at the time (and now have to restart )had nothing to do with it hehe.

bkboy thanks BoXXi for quelling the fury of bOxxI ( a.k.a. BoxXP ). There's not much worse than a protracted, XPlicit dressing down, and I had the feeling he was just getting wound up. craeAquaXP: I think you've won!

Frogboy, I'm surprised that you would even suggest that MS use well written exception handlers. They tend to make goofs transparent to the user. MS's policy has always been that all flubs, and 3% of all correct actions, must be punished in the most annoying manner conceivable, and their programmers are endlessly inventive in this regard. I'm going to have to reskin my Bill Gates voodoo doll, as it's no longer recognizable. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/miam.gif" border=

I really don't like the MAC ads. PCs do have a weakness in that it's too easy for software which you download to diddle, twiddle, and fiddle with the Registry (and other things) without your being aware. We've run Win NT for years in an environment where software uploading is permitted but closely supervised, and our admin can't remember the last time one of our PCs crashed. I have used and liked Macs - I think I'm just allergic to negative advertising.

Re Grog's Q on punch cards: I still twitch in card games when someone says "shuffle the deck". Am I the only one here who has coded with the original FORTRAN compiler? Haven't seen anyone yet claiming Univac for their first computer. ( I want to see someone in this thread who makes me feel young)!

Bangkokboy lived in Thailand, but was indeed born in Texas. After much reflection (2-3 seconds), I decided not to enquire about the Terrible Texas Curse. A fool thinks that he wants to know his future; a wise man knows better! Humorless Texans are easy to spot: round head, bright yellow face, etc. ==> >

Jafo, What you said with respect to these two skins in question makes sense. But I would hate to think, as a general principle, that all OS-related skins are "fair game" simply because they're OS-related. Some of the finest work that I've seen on this site from Glen and Manfred has been on OS-related and derivative skins, and I'd hate to see either fine skinner abandon that subject matter out of concern that their art will not be respected. OK, I've pontificated too much already, and will

MA's skin in question also looks a lot like his own My Pocket XP skin previously posted in total layout. When he made more room for his telescoping icons, he pushed the right border out and suddenly has a background which does resemble GER's fine specimen unfortunately. 1. GER has a valid complaint. 2. I don't believe that MA meant to blatantly infringe. 3. Couldn't this have been handled with a little more tact and class?
