Gid I would hope you would rather say "not only that" or "not at the top of the list though". I understand what you are saying, I was just simply trying to let out some steam about how people in this country just let things happen and do nothing about it.

Kinda late on this subject Col, we have been burning this up for a while now. You have Bush all wrong though. He is not stupid in the sense of not knowing that there are 8 other existing programs, he is only concerned with passing something that he and his buddies can benefit from. And since he has already figured out that the average American is dumb enough to swollow anything the Gov't says, he is praying on that ignorance to benefit financially. BTW, I am agreeing with you in case yo

I just got a taste last night of a Comedy Central TV show called Lil Bush. Let me tell you, I loved it. I thought it was hilarious and almost nailed every character. Lil Condi was adorable, Lil Cheney fumbled words more than Lil Bush did, Lil Rumey was more confused than ever. But the episode took the cake when they brought in Lil Tony Blair. Hah, his head was so funn

Stupid - slow of mind, given to unintelligent decisions or acts, acting in an unintelligent or careless manner, lacking intelligence or reason (Just in case someone had any doubts as to what does stupid mean) Let’s face it folks, we all know that every time we say the words “illegal immigrants” or illegal aliens” we’re really talking about Mexica

If we could figure that out - why the US has so much more firearms crime than other, similarly or more highly armed societies like Israel or Switzerland - then we'd know a lot more about people in general. Oh that's easy. As I have always said before and it is proven time and time again everyday in this country, the average American is lazy. So lazy that it would be easier, while more cosntly, to shoot someone with a gun, especially from far away, than

It seems to me (see ... i did that on my own) that you cant handle a civil discussion and are trying to turn it into a personal one. What exactly is your point in doing that? i am not interested in personal arguements with you LW. We are not reviewing Rushdie's novel here, why are you trying to steer the discussion that way and to my way of thinking? discuss the point of the article if you like but trying to drag the discussion into a shouting match is not my cup of te

True, but the techniques available to them will determine the extent of the harm they can cause. For example you can kill a couple of hundred with a carbomb and up to a couple of dozen with firearms, but a crazed knife-wielding lunatic only has the capacity to take out a couple before they tire or get mobbed. So true, but in the end it's the end result that we look at, murder or death, how ever you wanna put it. When I

There is only one purpose for a gun: kill. That is what it does. People who use them are killers. Even if its a paper target, the intent of the target is to sharpen the skill to kill. Toy guns only feed the fantasy. Ban guns? Perhaps. I would rather we teach our children and ourselves that violence and the implements of violence are wrongheaded and harmful. I would rather we offer our children a disciplined spi ritual practice that protects them from the poisonous fant

I mean think about it. You wanna talk about insulting spiritual figures? What do you think about the teen who had the "bong hits for Jesus" sign? You don't think that kind of mentality offended those who believe in Jesus? Connecting Jesus to using drugs? I did not see a world wide outcry over this, I did not see Catholics protesting down the strets of the world calling for the kids head, I did not see death and destruction due to the words of this ignorant teen. This is what I mean when I say yo

you expect more from people who are more educated, more free, more powerful,...etc. That is why. So what you are saying is the average Muslim is stupid? That they do not have the capacity to ignore other peoples opinions? In other words, you believe the average Muslim is a savage animal that attacks when offended because they are incapable of reasoning, right? This is interesting reasoning, considering that many of South American Lati

(Citizen)Adventure-DudeJune 26, 2007 12:24:30Reply #22 It's obvious of course that's because of those enviromentalist people, but the irony is that while they don't want us to drill hear due to the possible destruction of the land and death of animals, it seems to be OK to do it in other parts of the world. Cause unless every one of these enviromental nutcases actually stays away from all types of technology and products that are derived of oil in some w

I am not excusing them, i am saying we should recognize how they feel and use it to our advantage. Of course you are. Instead of expecting them to act like adults and ignore the beliefs of a single man, you expect them to retaliate just because they were offended. What they need to do is grow up and realize that their religion is not supreme and that there will always be those who don't like it. I don't think that raising hell every time someone says so

no their smart enough but they just don't care you don't have to care if all you have to do is die in a holy war That's pretty obvious, at least for some of us but as you can see I have to ask cause it does not seem so obvious to some people, like TA.

Maybe I've got a more optimistic view of kids, but I have serious doubts that anyone would see a banner like that and immediately go, "Wow, that's really persuasive! I'm going to go get stoned right now!" I reckon the other kids were perfectly safe to see a banner like that. After all, they almost certainly know about marijuana use around the traps anyway, whether through friends, parents, TV (eg Weeds), the intarweb or even school. I doubt either banner stick

You're asking people to contain themselves from expressing themselves. In other words you want them to give up the freedom of expression. Why? Because you fear that those would be allies would turn towards the enemy with open arms? Funny, I would think that if they embraced the beliefs of those who would do us harm would mean they had intentions of doing it already and were really only looking for an excuse to join them. How can we depend on a group of people as allies if at the drop of a hat th

I think I understand what you are saying ThinkAloud but I believe that you are only excusing those who would be offended and not expecting from them what you expect from England, or us for that matter. Why is it that you think we should be concerned with offending those who could be our allies and not expect them to do the same? Should they not respect other peoples opinions as well? Should not liking what someone else writes be enough of an excuse to joing the opposing team? I agree wi

Why can't people have a civil discussion, neighbor to neighbor, and settle their differences anymore? Hah, not without a lawyer present. These days it's either a lawyer or a gun that decides who wins the argument.

that effort you put forth speaks volumes. yes, indeed it does...thanks I guess you are refering to me. Thanks, I take great pride in my efforts. I do what I can to make them speak in large volumes. Even if what they are refering to lacks any volume.

Couldn't have said it better myself Draginol. Again I say I will never understand this whole concept of having to make it easier for everyone. Why is it so bad for people to have to struggle a little in order to have a future? Why is it that if a woman becomes a mom that she should get paid for it? Why is it that if this mom wants or has to work that free daycare should be provided? I aspire to make more money so that I can live better and not have to live in the slum. How can I aspire to better

Hey Brad, if you just happen to read this I have a suggestion for a feature for this web site. How's about putting a Signature feature for the replies kinda like the one you find in Outlook where everytime you make new email your name, phone number and other info automatically is placed at the end of the email. This would be a great feature so that every time I post I can have a disclaimer at the end of each reply. Really people is it necessa

My kids are my life. The whole toy gun thing is no big deal to me. My kids have had them and are not that much attached to them even though they both (ages 8 and 4) have had their share of video games with guns. I remember making machine guns out of 3 pieces of wood. We would put 2 nails in a V shape at the front end and nail a clothes pin to the back. We would use a rubber band and look for soda cans and beer cans to get the tabs to use them as ammo.
