Why i got defeated suddenly while i was winning. in Game Talk Stardock Forums

I was just playing my first game on easy level and wanted to achieve a conquer win when all of a sudden game ended and the computer showed me that i have got defeated.. i was highest in everything.. controlling 75% of the galaxy... Can anybody suggest me how this can happen.?
