Powerplants on ships would be a wonderful addition. I would think that you could even add two branches of techs to the tree, one that increases the power output, and one that decreased the size of the plant. the way the techs are set up now is that you get to a particular research point, and it increases the power of that branch (ex. that must've been a fun game to play, i like the way (which Mumblefratz pointed out) that the Drengin are allied to the Terrans, Terrans to the Arceans, Arceans to the Thalans, Thalans to the Drath, and Drath to the Torians (the hip bone's connected to the...) as an aside, i can't get races to ally with me no matter what i do, no matter what race, ethical alignment, and TOV managed to ally with the DRENGINS of all people lol i dont get it
along the lines of carriers, but not exactly the same... mobile ship builders? the ability to build a ship which can go to an area and build small or tiny ships at a relatively fast pace or instead of a constantly mobile ship, build a starbase which could then build ships, possibly of any size hull
also, to all the people who have been thoughtlessly giving away all their money, tech, planets, etc to get a nation to be CLOSE to them, i've noticed that sometimes a faction will be put off by all your gift giving, and actually think LESS of you, i know it's happened to me
Who in their right mind would want to ally with you if you have no military? What do you possibly have to offer them? You're like the ultimate moocher! You want to sit back and rake in big bucks and not foot the bill for your own defense, instead expecting your ally (who HAS sacrificed to maintain a military) to come to your defense in times of need? Seems pretty one-sided
improved diplomacy options... "give me this tech/planet/ship/base/etc or else..." "get your ships/starbase out of my territory or else..." (the computer sends you this message from time to time, but not the other way around "leave (my allies) alone or else..." basically add the ability to use the threat of military might to influence diplomacy (walk softly but carry a big stick)
yeah i found a bunch of pay programs, looking for freeware, thanks though
Does anyone know of any program (preferably free) that I can I use to make a video of one of my windows to put on like youtube.com or something?
Hey I was bored at work today and found this link, thought it might be helpful to anyone writing an AAR or any story... I know I have trouble making up names Name Generator
how can you control which side of the planet the ship comes out of? usually it always comes out on the same square on the grid
i havent been able to bring myself to raise the difficulty above challenging yet, but it seems like if i'm ahead in the initial colony race, the computer will drop minors in my way to slow me down, which is good for balancing, but SOOOOO annoying, it even happens when i click the button to disable minor races
forget about all the missles and point defenses for a second, what about beam weapons? this should be as close to point and shoot as it gets, no need to calculate trajectories of missles and whatever, just consider the bending of the beam due to entering the atmosphere (think of a straw in a glass of water), and since everything would be turret mounted, you could attack from orbit and not need to worry about a perfect firing position
haha, the last post makes me think of the matrix when the machines are coming for them, and morpheus gives his speech in the caves cant wait to see how this one turns out!
Those 15 PQ planets are just too tempting to pass up, I try and take them out early, before any other race can go after them or becomes friends with them. yeah i usually mooch off their technology (without giving them any military techs), then once the initial land grab is done they're my first targets... especially since it seems like they mostl
I hope that people are reading this i know i am! keep it up! i love reading these things... makes me want to call out of work and play GC2!
Creativity has always blossomed in wartime because the government invested more in research and production (specifically that which aided the war effort) during times of war i.e. during peacetime (just picking numbers to relate to GC2) spending was at 50%, then when the war started, spending was increased to 100% the same idea c
No u can not spy on a minor. seems like something that should be fixed in 1.4 then or at least remove the prompt telling me to invest money in espionage if i can't
Is it possible to get minor races to flip using influence? In yesterday's game I put two influence starbases, using all the influence modules obtained by researching cultural conquest, next to a minor races planet and nothing happened. No skull and crossbones at all. I tried to check what the influence ratio of the planet was but there were question marks. And this leads to my next question... Is there any way to spy on minor races?? In the foreign advisor screen under minor races
And the more times you can shoot, the more chance of defeating the enemy. not if your shots dont do any damage
okay, maybe i just didn't give it enough time then is it possible to flip a faction's final planet? or their home planet (that's what the little crown next to a planet means right?)
New to the game, so maybe this is a noob question, but I was playing the other day, experimenting with different aspects of the game. And I was trying to get a planet to convert over to my side using my influence. So I built a few influence starbases around it, and since I was doing sufficient espionage on their faction, I could see that my influence was almost 10x what their planet was producing. Then I saw the skull and crossbones pop up over the planet, then... nothing. Weeks went by and
