"Your camera sucks. Fix it!" Your right, its always cutting peoples heads off (my camera that is).
This reminds me of how i play Civilization...non stop building of military units. I think the only way this could work is if each unit created a drain on your economy. Without any maintenance costs, and unlimited units, it just seems silly.
norton 360 and some other programs run anti virus sweeps when your idle, i wonder if it could be something like that.
I would think if there was an epic battle, it would be at the homeworld. Sacrifice the colonies, pull your fleet together for one big fight.
I would like to see the fleet supply upgrages happen automatically. You could build more ships and pay more for your fleet, or lose a couple ships and slip back down to the next lowest level.
I think caps would have to hold back and let the frigates jump first. Let the fleets thin out a bit before engaging.
But some of the caps abilities really come into play during the main battle.
Caps need more firepower...I would like to see more off a BSG set up where they are actually important.
You want the caps for the abilities and to counter culture. The other ships will be the firepower of your fleet.
I haven't had time to read all 95 replies to your post, but i wanted to respond about fleet points being bad on big maps. Maybe each planet you have could add a percent or two to the fleet cap?
I like the tech which gives you more fleet points, I think it says "better radio transmitions" or something like that. In the first upgrade it gives you 8% more fleet points and it has a second upgrade option also. In the late game, that is quite alot.
In my little world, I like think of the lost revenue and materials as transportation costs. Your homeworld is the center of your empire, and to transport those materials and money to where it can be counted and processed costs materials and money.
Put your mouse curser over each ship in the build menu and the window will show you.
I wonder if you can prevent frigates from being built by erasing them from a file somewhere.
When I'm playing the game, i just "pretend" the star is the black hole in the center of our galaxy, and each planet is somewhere in that galaxy, and all the other planets are not represented on my "war map" because they are not important.
Just an example, If they did fleet caps like they did in the beta: Of course there is more of a colony rush, because without more planets than your enemy, you cannot field as large of a fleet as him. So lets say you get 3 planets and he gets 6 planets. Well, now, whats the point of playing anymore if right off the bat he can field twice as big a fleet. Its a game, and it has to be fun for both players, and the losing player has to feel like the have a ch
I didn't play beta so I'm unfamiliar with the old system. how was it set up before retail?
The colony rush was very important so you could get a large fleet... and once you started to lose planets, you lost fleet points and it was hard to come back. Imagine you get caught by suprise, and lose a planet. If you were near your fleet cap, now your in the negative and cannot build any ships. So your next battle, while you lose ships, you cannot make more. The player wi
While the races' ships and structures all have the same roles
If this wasn't true, it would take me forever to bounce between races. And noobs would probably quit before they got started.
shift + (number) to add units to a group would be nice like in the beta. ALT + (number) to remove from group.
My first games i played i used a bunch of caps and i got destroyed. The AI just destroyed my fleet with a bumch of little ships that could concentrate there fire and take out my caps 1 at a time. Your going to want a mixed fleet and caps for there special powers.
How about each request has options like "i need help for my war, destroy 10 ships for me or give me 5,000 credits" Maybe it could even say please :D
In the beta, capital ships would provide "allegiance" Don't know if its still that way.
What?
