Someone thinks they can stop playing GalCiv...that's cute.
Illauna
Checking the forums every minute to see if they launched the alpha yet. Even if I know it won't be out for at least a little while.
Quoting Cikomyr, reply 1 While I understand your concerns, I would rather we do not have full visibility within cultural borders. Otherwise, how could ships infiltrate? Enemy ships probably shouldn't be able to walk up to your front door unnoticed.
Actually they should and I think you should also be able to deploy ships that help conceal or disgui

Very good points. On point 1 you can turn on mines in general. In most cases any land resource you will generally choose right away to either keep or destroy. Most of them can have a pretty big effect on your city. The only exception to this is grain because as of right now. Population is not that important. In the early game you generally want to spam settlers. I don't know what you mean on step 4. Can you clarify? If you are talking about city enchantments you can cast them
If you place the mouse cursor over any of the menu options and press either the left, right, or the middle mouse buttons and drag you can "select" the other menu options. They will stay selected until you run the mouse cursor over the highlighted menu options again without a button held down. It appear's the extra mouse buttons work as expected.
Make a "People Mover" colony ship. You only need 1 or 2. These have as many colony modules as you can place. Do not use these to settle colonies. They should just move back and forth spreading out your population between planets. Later on these will have the transport modules. This helps your pop grow fast as well as push colonist to your big econ planets.
Good advice above. However, I'll give you the first four things I will usually build when they are available: Logging Camp (only available if your city is next to a forest) Workshop Study (I might swap this with Workshop if I have a Logging Camp built) Bell Tower (I might move this up depending how bad my unrest is) Quickly research the first-level Civilization techs (Restoration, K
It sounds like I might be a little more aggressive early with my sovereign and two initial units (the three fighting together) than Illauna is. Not saying one way is better--just a matter of style.
My initial units are not separated for more then 4 turns. Just enough time to spot your second town, find enemy camps, easy to grab treasure, and early quests. You generally want to start clearing the early creeps as soon as possible.&nb
Ah, birth of the federation. Completely forgot about that game. I lost a childhood playing that, Master of Magic, Star Control 1 and 2, Civilization 2-5.
Legendary Heroes : War of the Frog
Avoid relying on build orders. This game completely depends on what you need. Every map is different and you cannot always play the same way. i.e. If you always do a magic build you are going to hurt if there is no decent essence cities. Here is a few early game strategies. However, generally I build a cleric or the tower first. Most of the time I build the cleric. Once you build that you just need 1 fame point from clearing a camp to get you
A XCOM or Elemental style tactical combat would be poor way to represent combat between starships. Personally I'd like to see positional tactical combat such as with Starfleet battles or Sid Meier's Ace Patrol. Other than that a RTS or order based system works better for space. Heck just put a simplified version of Sins for tactical battles. HOWEVER, we are talking about Stardock here and currently they some of the best game designers in the industry for strategy games. So we can
*ignore my reply to this*
When are we going to hear about these? We all know that Star Control 3 The Retconn Edition will be announced. What's left new next elemental game, new ip, new sins game? Come on, spill the beans :D
I'll be honest it's growing on me. Part of me likes the more cartoony style of the Kumquat engine. It's refreshing verses the grittyness that is out there these days. I'm willing to bet that you can turn off the outlines. You can in legendary heroes.
Doesn't time slow down as you move away from the Earth? [e digicons]:fuzzy:[/e]
Depends if you have 32 or 64 bit Vista. I believe there is even a 64 bit xp. Right click on Computer and select properties it will tell you. But yes you would have to "update" to vista. Honestly I really do not recommend this route in your situation Sugien. Just spend the $100(?) for Win 7 64 bit. Stay away from Win 8
Nothing wrong with asking. I listened to a Podcast (3 moves ahead or Polycast) where Brad explained the advantages of 64 bit processors and how 32bit processors was a huge limitation for them. By forcing the hardware upgrades they may alienate some people but they will be able to deliver a much better game in the long run. According his explanation the reason why AI suffers in many 4x games is not because they are poorly designed but because
Ah I think that's it. Also the blue on the side I think is one too many colors.
Is this what your looking for? http://store.steampowered.com/sharing/ It's in beta.
https://stardock.cachefly.net/www_galciv3_com-assets/screenshots/ship_lrg.jpg I love and hate the look of this ship. It looks fragile, like it's made of stained glass. I havent played GalCiv2 for a while I believe thats a Drengin ship based on the colors. I donno it looks cool but kinda bothers me too. Anyone else think the same thing. I'm having a hard time narrowing down what is bothe
No competitors...Beamdog, GOG, Origin, Gamestop (Impulse), and UPlay. Unless you meant quality competitors then I see your point. (Ok I like GOG)
please add a gift, or 50% bonus for previous galciv versions or some coupon for full collectors edition of all games. I wanna buy....
I think I read on the welcome message that Stardock is going to do a sale on Steam.
