I installed Vista RC1 this way. I used MagicISO Maker to extract the Vista iso image/file to a partiton that I had made on an external usb 2.0 hard drive. Then, I clicked on the Vista "start.exe" icon on the external hard drive where I had extracted the iso file to and it started installing from the external drive to my laptop flawlessly. All you need to do is download and install magiciso Right click on the vista RC1 iso file Then click on MagicISO ---> "extract to..."
