Neilo said we needed to keep this thread active, so I'm gonna hand this thread over to someone who knows how to get physical.

well they have talked elsewhere about protected file content; that there are certain files and such that can not be altered for MV use, such as the RAW terrains, technologies, etc. Added to your query as why they simply haven't said so may also relate to anyone changing any file whatsoever (whether be image, movie, etc) runs the risk of crashing a game. I'm sure you've seen how people have gotten lost on even simple computer directions on here. I saw Cari make a post before,

well...I suppose one could create weak opponents in a sense. You can't make the stock races any weaker than they are, and technically any SA will give some benefits. So in theory a race with any given SA is better off than having SA's disabled. As for weak opponents...now I would guess that you prolly go in and spend the remaining ability points for each opponent before starting a game to make the game more of a challenge. You prolly select Use CPU Intensive Algorithms, and if you we

if you're slider is at 100% for any given field (you shouldn't need to focus on whatever you are making 100% as there is nothing to shift) then it doesn't matter if you have buildings or ships in queue. Sometimes...certain structures, planetary bonus, racial bonuses, and asteroids may results in other fields producing a very trivial amount (like 1 unit). Note that some structures that give bonuses don't increase your focus. For example the Tech Capital doesn't increase your

ha, i can think of players you could ask...but i dont know how much longer you'd be playing in the MV

Yes, it has come to my attention that this has been discussed in some circles. I would suppose I would be considered the "expert" on this for the Tyranny. So Mumblefratz, let me enlighten you for once :D There are actually a lot of limits on what can be done. You can NOT give yourself or an opponent just any ability. In the case of using a Stock race as either your playable race or as an opponent you are given a strict set of parameters to work within. You can not change t

The Yor are actually one of the so-called "better" races to begin with as they get a nice balance of abilities and are aided by a miniaturization bonus. Usually, its a good idea to go with some morale bonuses during the set-up screen as this is the main drawback of the Yor. As an added "bonus", when playing with Super Abilites, the Yor SA limits enemy ships to a speed of 3 no matter what and the ability to colonize Barren worlds automatically. Another nice thing about the Yor are all

also on a related note, that once your population hits certain thresholds on a planet it is next to impossible to have a high morale no matter how many morale resources, buildings, or ability points you have. This ceiling is at roughly 20-22 billion. After that point, it becomes cost prohibitive.

well let me be the first to say (unless someone else is typing right now...grrr) that it would be awesome to have you in the MVL...now all it comes down to is convincing you to stick around after the round is over.

haha i know right?! i always check the weather before I go; my mom lives right on the lake shore so she gets a lot of lake effect snow and my Mustang just isn't made for those kind of driving conditions. I'm not worried about the temperature, its not that much warmer down here in Indiana. Well you should well know the 4 seasons that Michigan has: Winter, Almost Construction, Construction, and More Construction. ((I'd should stick deer hunting in there, that's pretty much a st

its one of the compromises I suppose (using smaller maps) but it lends itself well to competitive team play in the time restraints that we have. I gotta say I love how much playing in the MVL has helped my game. I was even able to win on Masochistic the other day, and have been trying my hand at Suicidal with ok results. For those that are long in the tooth, its a nice change of pace and also, helps you to see how your strategies take shape in different circumstances. Shoul

unh...Iztok, i'm going to guess that is just an EXAMPLE game that you are showing us right? we get...antsy...when games are posted in the Round Thread...start thinking they are official submissions and whatnot (not that i would complain about that game, personally)

interesting idea, and thankfully one that can be tracked (unlike some options) and while i do mostly play evil, i used to have some "good" games under my belt; just gotta utilize it correctly. For one, I rush to Ethics so i can skip those moral dilemmas...I'd rather not have any option than seeing what I could have gotten if I had been evil.
1) Any game with a lower score and the same or lower speed as another game is eliminated from consideration and the game submitted to the league is randomly selected from the remaining games. 2) The score/year ratio is calculated for each of the players games and the game with the highest ratio is submitted to the league. If two or more games have an identical score/year ratio then the game subm

well, there are ways to win a conquest victory without actually invading a planet. You could attempt to buy off the AI (literally by up their worlds, note that its nigh impossible to convince the AI to sell some of its worlds but it does happen). Another is to declare war and later have the AI surrender to you. Finally, having all the AI worlds flip to you (culture) but not having the Influence victory enabled will result in a conquest victory. Note that in any of the above strategie

yeah, its 48 weeks. AS for winning in the first year (@Califdude), its hard but not impossible unless its a cultural victory, the game doesn't allow that victory in the first year. Individuals, such as myself and FireBender, have mastered our conquest strategies to be order to quickly take the AI. While it is theoretically possible to win an Alliance and Tech victory in the first year, its extremely difficult so most 0 and 1 year games are almost always conquest victories.
