I can help, too. As I said I have some info about ship classes and can put a list together for the arsenals of both races. But the overall structure of the mod has to be worked out before anything real can happen.

Directional weapons: Yes that's a good idea. Slower turning: I don't know. Besides the problem mentioned, it will also neuter retreats as you will get butchered before you turned and even cannot fire back because of directional weapons. I guess there is no choice to translate the tactical feel in LOGH into something more strategical in a possible mod. I'm also a big LoGH fan. I've done some research on the ships for another project I once had and I still have the data somewhere on my harddrive. Mostly ship pics and notes what they did. I would recommend to do this mod not only for one map or variants thereof. People would get bored playing the same map over and over. Cap ships: Another idea might be to tie them to personalities with the race choice. So you have a Reinhard von Lohengramm Galactic Empire and other Empires (fac
Well, I think this is quite easy to mod. You will still be able to build the same cap ship over and over then but each race has a cap with anti fighter an abilities.
Hi, I had the idea to split up the three races into subfactions like C&C Generals for example. This would be a mod with no or few extra content just alot of coding work to change alot data and abilities. Some ships will be not available for one faction or the other but there will be also some variants like armed trade ships, TEC units mounting experimental weapons, Advent ships with ability-based PSI-weapons only, escort Cobalts with additional anti-fighter capability etc.
Easier online functionality, aside from that a campaign for SP. I'm already kinda getting bored of SP maps without any story to them and have yet to get online functioning properly. And you think a wall of text prior to starting up that single-player map will make everything magically better?
Good missions are much more than a wall of text. <br
Updated AI players More Game Speed Options More aggressive AI players replacing dropped players (i.e. active AI) AI surrendering Improvements to ICO Unit cap increases
Thats a reasonable list I think. What do you mean with the AI replacing and AI surrendering? I hope that there will be an option that dropped players are not replaced by AI or just get neutral so you don't need
A good tool to make campaigns with a flexible "programming" tool (like Starcraft/Warcraft for example). There are two things that help a game to survive: MP and user created content. MP is good, modding will be good too I guess but missions and campaigns are needed.
I got some weird movements, too. I ordered a Destra Crusader to a planet and it also stated its target in the datacard. But it went through this well to the next one. I then ordered it back during the phase jump and it again overshot in the other direction and the weird thing is that another Destra followed its heels! As far as I can remember I ordered the one Destra during phase jumps only. Besides that its non-stackable ability must be a bug. That high in the tech tree i
limited capital ships, its crazy that theres infinte amount of planets but only 200 ships. its impossible in real life.
So the other things are actually possible. Yay, havn't seen Kol's in real life yet or are they called Space Shuttle at the moment...
I don't like TEC that much because I played with them all beta long. Although they are solid regarding caps and research I prefer the aliens. Vesari have quite a difficult research tree so they are challenging and they add a lot of atmosphere to the game. Nothing the less I think Advent is my weapon of choice for competitve gaming. The only thing I dislike is the cap ability sets. Research tree is solid and their style is cool.
I think first and foremost dropping players assets have to become a neutral defensive power that mustn't be destroyed to win the game. Otherwise the stats now (win/loose) and later and matchmaking won't make any sense as people don't play MP against each other to mop up AI's.
Yeah Conquest: Frontier Wars would have been my favorite game but the alien factions sucked and the terran missile cruisers were waaaaay overpowered.
I also stumpled upon this 50% speed increase between stars 3 times now. Two times it was on a single star map. I mean c'mon is it that hard to prevent the game from generating this artifact in singe star maps! Its plain unfair when you got this one and your enemy finds an useable one in a 1vs1.
I agree with the things said so far. Honestly "diplomacy" in beta seemed more realistic than now. Missions: Nice idea but far too many problems at the moment. Especially in large games (5-7 AI in one system) AI's will give you missions you can only fulfill by stomping with your fleet through another empire only to destroy 4 civil buildings and then retreat again. Missions are cool but as of now they are just replacing are realistic diplomacy system with something that dosn't wo
This tool is absolutely awesome. I already redesigned the maps I designed with notepad during the betas and I even haven't downloaded the game completey. Very cool and intuitive!
Nice job on the demo. Although I noticed the little errors too it doesn't matter. The moment the battle scene was on screen my jaw dropped to the floor anyways. I should have wished for a new machine on Christmas...
I have done a quick banner. It merges three different pics from the download section. Its a bit too large at the moment. If anybody likes it I can resize it. [link="https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com"][/link]
So where is this guy's phase gate?
you must not be paying attention and/or playing a game longer than 5 minutes, so I'm not going to bother with the glaringly obvious differences that you dont notice. I reitterate (with significant support) that the Vasari and TEC are far more differentiated than the starcraft trio.
Read please. I acknowledge that they are different due to the abilities. The problem is that several other people and me are trying have an argument bu
so the fact the devs made it this way is irrelevant? my god what could I be thinking? lore is not a source, fact is a source, a primary source. the devs didnt MISTAKENLY make it the way it is. at least I hope not.
Hmm, the fact the devs made the Vesari like this. Lets see: Designing one race and then copy its whole structure to another and change the play style via the abiliites is much easier to do and balance than designing two unique races. Lets look at t
This game has only three races. Barring one from competetive 1 on 1 play sounds like an underpowered race to me. It also sounds like serious "unfun" of the 1 on 1 part. Countless mirrors or TEC vs Advent would be definately not as interesting as three balanced, destinctive races. take the complaint to the devs, not me.
That shows that you seem to misunderstand what it's about. This thread is about the question if the Vesari are t
a little hint, you, have you any brains, would know they were coming and would have struck them from a HUNDRED angles by the time they get to you, of which you would have layered yourself with tons of defenses AND jump your fleet in to help wipe up
Whoa don't get philosophical. The TEC enemy is no helpless puppy unless its an AI. On even terms (regarding skill) the enemy will know what you want to do with the Vesari and he will just try to steamroll you all the way you ar
simply put as soon as the vasari hit civ 9 they are neigh undefeatable in battle, as they can easily counter a huge force by bringing in any extra forces from all extremities in a matter of seconds. you may lose a bit at first, but game over if you can handle building at the rate of the TEC.
It is rather diffucult/boring to get to Phase gate tech in a 1 on 1 game for example. Besides, in a theoretical game: The Vesari are able to keep up and finally build
The big AI overhaul wasn't ready for Beta 4 so the AI is still "not that good", although I felt that I had a harder time against the hard AI. But I second most of the people's concern about the Vesari. I don't like to say that because the game and the companies involved are so great in every other aspect but the current TEC/Vesari destinction is very poor. TEC feels like it should, the Vesari are like a TEC sub-faction that specialized in phase-tech. At least the graphics and t
