Confirmed problem here as well. So now the already annoying (and unnecessary, and impossible to disable) update notification popup is now even more annoying and simply broken (no update actually available). I'm sure so many people would appreciate this option. (Especially with the problematic update popups going on right now.). It seems so simple. Quite surprised I couldn't find it in the settings.
