Here's the deal. Show me a noncorrupt human government anywhere on this planet. I'm American. I lean right more than left. I support neither party. Both are corrupt to the nth degree, both make the government larger and more powerful over the people rather than for the people. It's, as you know, not really a democracy but a republic, which is great if your elected officials who vote for you are not corrupt, selfish, embezzling, etc, but we unfortunately live in reality. As for independents, the

I don't think it's productive to endlessly argue. However, this thread doesn't really bother me all that much for a few reasons. Firstly, I'm not personally involved, maybe I'd feel differently if I were. Secondly, while I enjoy the forum, receive help, insights, post complaints/bugs, or simply enjoy reading, it is not a significant portion of my life and thus its impact is small. Thirdly, it is unlikely that new people would really read every single thread. More likely they would gravitate to t
Yes. I am a starbase maniac, I try as best I can with the limit of 4 per sector to arrange it so I get 6 or more econ bases in every planet's range for the bonuses. Then eventually, someone starts wiping out these 40-some-odd module beasts like they a lonely starfighter, and it takes a little time to build 40-some-odd more constructors for ech base you want to replace, on top of the fact you've now lost some bonus to production, which in turn makes it more time-consuming. I'm not suggesting maki
You know, I never asked in the forum, but I always wondered why I should have more trade units do to game events, etc, and never got more. I did not know the hard cap was 12.
I'm pretty new here, too, but one thing I'll say is that folks here are quick to help you through issues/questions. I have never seen a community like this that does not ignore new people or tease about even very basic questions. Welcome.
Actually, I really like the empty hull idea. It never occurred to me to do that. And I already keep empty hull designs all tagged with the word BASE (insert ship name). That way I never lose the design. It would be great to just upgrade empty hulls as needed. Wow. I cannot believe I never thought to do that. It seems obvious once someone states it. That would be cheaper than what I do now. <img sr
The community is great and extremely helpful and quick to help. I see where you're coming from, but (perhaps I miscounted) I see only 3 flame threads, one of them locked. The rest really are nice discussion and/or helping folks, especially new ones, solve any issues or answer questions. And I never even see anyone bash new folks for even the questions that seem perhaps slightly ridiculous and easy to figure out on one's own. Perhaps this is more serious than I thought, my take on this thread, fo
6 hours and like 27 minutes from start to finish. I played a 23 hour game where I crept around trying to see if I missed any cool, hidden goodies. My buddy actually finished the game even quicker than I did. He was almost exactly 6 hours, maybe 3 minutes over.
I never have an issue with spelling. With a little study, a bit of discipline, and an eye for detail, spelling errors are never really neciiss... wait a sec... necesisarey... hold on... necessararary... well.......... there goes that theory.
I being offented hear. You attak for people trying hard too English. I am insult.
You know, I'm not sure. I don't auto-much, I'm one of those goons who micromanages everything and somehow thinks it's fun. There is a hotkey thread somewhere here where eberyone lists the hotkeys and it's a recent post.
Now hold on a sec, Kryo, that isn't true. I like to be lectured. Unless, of course, your staement IS true, that nobody likes to be lectured, in which case you're calling me nobody. (and for those who can't figure it out) J/K.
Yes, I notice/agree to all of these except the micromanagement. After MOO3, everything is a cakewalk as far as micromanaging. Also, in GalCiv1, there was a ship list, which is nonexistent in GalCiv2, which madeit much easier to locate ships for any reason.
A funny thing to do is build the Galactic Privateer and watch the pirates try in vain to kill your freighters. Every turn they try to attack and can't.
And (...) just means over 999. I took out a pirate fleet that was like 768 ray, 882 missile, and (...) massdriver. The hit points were like 1500 as yours. My fleet was something like 168 Ray, (...) Missile and 960 massdriver. You can do eet!
Load up on one type of weaponry. I have had the same thing happen to me. Trust me, you can still make better ships than they do. DO not spread 3 types of weapons. Notice the pirate defenses are probably like 300 or more in each category. To hurt them, your fleet must do more than that in a category. There damage is your attack minus their defense in a category (missile, ray, or massdriver). If they have a missile defense of say 286 and you do 300 missile attack, they receive 14 damage. Make a fl
Yes. You can only move once a turn. You said it moved part way. That was as far as it could go this turn. You must now wait until the next turn. Leave set on your destination. Before you click the TURN button, move over your map to where you can see the ship but leave it alone. Hit Turn. You will see it move another few spaces. And it will move at the end of each turn until it arrives. And yes, you can set your scout to auto-explore in the ship actions menu. <a href="https://www.stardoc
Pump up research, forget military and production, except for insane numbers of resource starbases and economy starbases (econ starbase bonuses stack in sphere of influence, withonly 4 bases allowed per sector, you can stick extra ones on just the other side of a sector line to jack up planetary bonuses to over 200% production and research). Skip the military techs. Build little or no ships (maybe on border worlds). Max out your planets, research all the trade good techs, build them all. Then tra
Yes, planetary summary screen shows all planet bonuses as well as starbase bonuses. Also, once you've played a few games, you'll see the difference in your research points as compared to planets without the bonus.
BTW, I noticed a post likening EA Games to Microsoft Games. I have to say, I like Microsoft games even less. Every game, irregardless of game type or setting, seems to have the same guy for the main character (you recieve no options for choosing). Sometimes the concepts are really cool but the game is a horrible letdown, they get a good idea then think of ways to screw it up. Their games are insanely short. About the time you think, "well, maybe I'm halfway through the game now," the end credits
I love the biggest maps in games, I really do. But sometimes, late in the game, it gets tedious when it's obvious you will win, mopping up the competition.
I don't spell check and won't poke fun at people who spell incorrectly, unless it is a good natured jabbing. I notice I constantly leave entire words out, so I guess I'm no one to make fun of the subject. And since I am always too lazy to spellcheck, it's amazing how I forget the spelling of words like annihilate (sp?). I also never seemed to grasp that children's rhyme of "i before e except after, you know, whatever". I won't even begin on the number of times I have used hear for here, there fo
Hey now, all of this may be exactly 100% true. But I remember, once, an EA hockey game I liked. 97 or 98. I remember it well. C'mon guys, remember the good times! And there was one more thing I wanted to say.... lemme see... I think I remember... oh, yeah, that's it! EA sucks.
I've been reading both threads. As new nobody in the forum, here's my unwanted opinion: I don't believe in bashing people, but I, like anyone who claims so, can become a hypocrate and do it if certain comments go against the grain you have in whatever touchy subject is up for bids. I believe it is my responsibility to try my best not be the aforementioned hypocrate. However, I also believe if you post responsibly, you will give some thought to the touchier subjects, such as politics, before you
You cannot add Starbase Defenses Mark IV if you have not... IS WHAT I MEANT TO TYPE ABOVE. Sorry, I just saw that I missed that all important NOT which could cause confusion.
