There's a very old tutorial on the Help page of the Winstep web site, but some of the information in it, particularly in what concerns WorkShelf, is now a bit incorrect. You will find plenty of information in the NextSTART and WorkShelf User Guides though (just click the Help button in Preferences). The 10 default categories in the free version should be enough for 99% of the cases. Of course you can do the same manually by dragging shortcuts and folders around under Explorer, but you have to know what you are doing, where the two Start Menu folders are, how to synchronize changes between the All Users and Current User folders that share the same name, etc, etc... Because although Wincustomize is part of Stardock, it serves a larger community - which is why Wincustomize got accepted as the skin repository site of choice when Skinz.org went down all those years ago. Besides that, Winstep and Stardock have a special relationship that goes back to 1998. :)

The icon reflection effect is enabled by default on new installations of Winstep Xtreme. Anyway, for docks: right click on the NeXuS control icon -> Effects -> Enable Icon Reflection For the shelf: right click on the left mini-tab -> Appearance and Sounds -> Effects -> Enable Icon Reflection By default reflection size is 50% of the size of the icon, but you can change this in the Dock Properties panel for docks and in the Shelf Content tab in Preferences for the Shelf.

It's a respect relationship: WindowBlinds leaves Winstep alone and Winstep leaves WindowBlinds alone. :) Usually you can always find a WindowBlinds theme that goes well with or is a companion to a specific Winstep theme. As for the Aston Shell comparison, well, try both and find out for yourself. ;) For starters, Aston replaces Windows Explorer as the shell, while Winstep Xtreme does its job as a normal application.
