I tried reading this from the GalCiv forums, which has a black background, and your text is unreadable. I had to highlight the text to see any of it. It probably looks fine from whatever stardock forum you're on, but it's something to keep in mind when posting in any of the off topic sections... A bit on topic, the largest problem I have with Impulse, Steam, etc, is that you are made very aware that you are only buying a liscense for the game. You don't own the game. Be
and before anyone suggests it I've already tried adding -w and -window and such in the command line.
I'm aware that it's not a standard request, and that it isn't a standard option for these long dead and abandoned games. If it was as easy as a command line switch or just clicking a setting option I would have done it weeks ago. I'm not quite that daft. Hello, The crowd here usually can point me to a program or method to solve my computing woes. Currently, I'm looking for a way to force a game to run in a windowed mode. Specifically the game is Risk, but I have a few others that I'd like to do this with as well. I've done a bit of google searching and couldn't find anything that worked, and before anyone suggests it I've already tried adding -w and -window and such in the command line.

Stalker is, by far, my favorite FPS. If Deus Ex and Stalker had a baby, I would make a small large shrine in it's glory, but never play, for am I not holy enough. [e digicons][/e] The Stalker game is unlike most other FPS's, in that it adds an X factor that is missing from all others. It has horror elements, dynamic worlds that aren't ever quite the same, and such a satisfying feeling of accomplishment when

I'd assume that the remaining player base uses their own personal mods. GC2 is still a great game, but doesn't have the following it used to. Most have moved on to other games as stated. I've been going back and forth between a few other games, none of them GC2. I still check here every so often to see if anyone has released a cool ship pack or other neat mod that I can bash into my own mix, but I doubt anything will renew my interests enough to spark a big revival. It often feels like how long till you win, rather than if you win. I really like how in some games, if the game is obviously in favour of one side, it creates an event that changes the game balance completely. Like having all the other Civs gang up on you in GalCiv 2... All I did was research Lasers V...
If you can get past the clunky interface, I really loved Space Empires V. With a towering tech tree that goes from building counter measures to ward off incoming ballistics to building dyson spheres, I'd say it's a bit in depth. I'd also recommend the Balance Mod for the increased AI. The AI isn't going to blow your mind, but with the upgrade it will give you a run for your money until you get to the end game. But I've yet to play a game that challenges me in the endgame.

It pains me to see that people don't feel swindled by DLC that's released on game day. It doesn't matter if the game was delayed, and it's not about any amount of lying. It seems very low brow that you can buy a brand new game on release day and be missing out on content. The team working on the DLC was going along just fine, maybe they should have been working on the original game in the first place instead of the newest nickle and dime craze to hit the consumer market? <

I was having some overheating problems with my two ati xtx1950's that are 3-4 years old. I thoroughly cleaned all of the dust out of my case. I carefully took apart my graphics cards and cleaned off some dust that I couldn't clean otherwise. I also replaced and upgraded my PSU, since it was as old as the graphics cards were. Everything works wonderful again, just like new. Granted they're older cards, but they run great now with no

I haven't looked at the files in awhile, but I'm very sure that you can open up the xml files for research, and add to their cost. The higher the cost, the longer it will take to research it. Play with the numbers until you get what you like. 8)

If you're not buying a box, and just getting a direct download, I wouldn't bother getting the special edition unless you really like all of "the making of" stuff. All of the in game special items will be available on release day to everyone who has access to the internet. [e digicons]:)[/e] Unless they've changed it from how they've done every game so far...
The only DLC you have to pay for is Warden' Keep, and it's $7. If you buy the digital download CE (Deluxe Edition), you get it for free. Warden's Keep was always intended to be for-pay DLC, and the only reason it's available on day 1 is because of the delay in the release date of the PC version of the game. This gave the DLC team enough time to finish it by launch date. And to address the inveitable questions of why it wasn't i
The Orange Box
Definately worth $30 if you haven't played Half Life 2 yet. I don't like the episode expansions. They're well done, but so short that I would feel very ripped off if I paid full price for them. Portal is very fun too, but very short if you're a decent problem solver. Team Fortress 2 isn't my favorite game. I don't enjoy playing online with immature people or super elite pros who have mastered the art of video games. But that's all persona

GFWL leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I won't get into why, because it will be a long tirade, but terrible programs like GFWL make me dislike Impulse as well. I don't want to have Steam, Impulse, GFWL, EA Download Manager, and 100 other programs downloaded onto my computer to make my gaming and updating experience "easier" from every decent sized company. The crappy programs make me loathe the system, which makes me dislike all similar programs, including the ones that work fine, and I'm sure
