Ships arent supposed to die fast in SOASE, because it is a massive game, which would make it tediuos to manage battles in medium to larger maps. And IMO Capital Ships are far from weak, underpowered for their price I dont know, since im not really into the system that much yet (and hopefully never have to be, as im sure Stardock will take care of every balance issue as time goes. Remember, Starcraft was balanced for 10 years, and probally still is being polished to make it as perfect as it

Kryo(Stardock) says:
There isn't. That's the problem. You can deflect all you please, but NEVER should ten CRAP SHIPS that you can build in the first 30 seconds of the game be able to bring down a HEAVILY defended planet system. With standard game speed and resource settings, it takes a bare minimum of three and a half minutes *just* to get the mere capability of building siege frigs if you go straight for them at the co
So, I saw/heard the "How Sinister" in a video and I liked it, kinda reminded me of the ingenious voice acting of Starcraft ^.^, but I havent heard it yet in the full version. Is it there? :O
I suggest that we also get a similar button to the game/research speed set to low/normal/high for unit cap ^^. Also I suggest that there will be moons and space stations, special planets with the ability to construct special units and more types of special areas, more logistic type buildings, more research items + tons of more artifacts. And of course more portraits for players to choose from, more unit types for all races and more races later on ^.^ :d
Wouldnt it be cool if you could play as an "AI player", where the AI simply controlled your units while you made dinner or something, but you could take cnotrol anytime you liked too? This would be good for a mod idea, getting experience with the game and for occisonally getting random scenarios! :D What do you think? :)
If you look at the Infocard for a research topic, it displays how many research centers are needed. Also, the background of the research screen will brighten if you have enough research centers for that section. Ironclad's said they plan to expand the tech trees in the future.
<br
More tech, I say! More laboratories! ^^
How does one join the pink ponies? :[?]
Hehe, what about some vasari ships launching small APC's with torture specialists to a planet to decrease it's income for some time ^^, hehe X-(
EDIT: for making the bigger games more appealing ^^. Imagine needing 25 research centers for aquiring something, or even more. :HOT:
Is there any chance that we could get the numbers of research centers back into the civilian/military research screens? And what about more research items/artifacts?
Yes, we are waiting for a general concensus and some more detailed in-house analysis of the current balance. Let's just see how the numbers go this week. Perhaps there is an evolving counter strategy that will become next week's dominate and make the siege one obsolete. That's the way rts's go sometimes, not always, but sometimes. We are keeping a close eye on it.
Yeah, be carefull not to sterilize this game units by nerfing/buff
Ok this game obviously isn't oging to be for everyone, it's designed to be an epic space RTS not your standard Dawn of war where games can be won of lost in 5 minutes. Personally i'm really liking how slow the game is, it's refreshing to know that if i go do something else for 5 minute or get called away during a multiplayer game for a minute or two i know full well that i'm not going to be destroyed when i come back. This game isn't about instant winning or fast pace
Cool, I would very much so like someone to pay me dearly for alliance because of the damage they have inflicted ^^, though these number should not become determined on who you ally with in any way which was too leading, of course. ;)
Only 9!? I want magic frostblades! ;p I imagine it would be cool if this game borrowed some inspiration from the HOM&M series, in terms of what it means to explore something while you are playing an RTS, like artifacts, special planets/npc planets with nice artifacts and such. :) hehe, maybe even planets with acces to special units, *drowls* :p... But anyways, I still have alot to learn about this game. ;D
Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me, Annatar11. But what are those games with 100 planets like? Is it just spawning units and rebuilding planets in the last quarter of the game after research has finished? And how many artifacts are there in this game? ^^ You have any idea if we will get more artifacts/research items/units for this game in patching? :HOT:
Hmm, im also new to this kind of games, so I would like to know what there is to do after you completed the research tree in a big game, that apparently, can go on for months!? :SURPRISED:
O.O! <3<3<3 & man-boobs [. ] [ .] :D
Other NPC's than pirates, what could that be? The GRey's? :D (after seing the ones in Laser Squad Nemesis I cant think of any space villian that would look cuter ;p).
I knew it, everybody loves animated turrets! :HOT: What I said earlier, polishment is what you need when you want people to stick with your game, so if not in a patch then maybe in the 1st exspansion? :d
Hmm, im no modder, so why not put a unit cap button (low/high/higher/highest) in the game creation menu? I cant imagine the game working fine on small maps and larger maps with the same unit cap limit. (:(
where is the chat-log? :SURPRISED:
I played every game of that trilogy
Yeah, a patch wishilist ^^! I hope they wont get bored working on this game too soon, and personally I would pay for 2-3 exspansions with 2 new races and new features in each :CONGRAT: .
This is funny. Supposedly the game does exactly aim at not having too high system requirements! ^^
