Well, that's why the words "a lot of" are included in the sentence. I meant that not all *males* think that way. And what's "a lot" for you? Say 10%?! And it was actually 1.5 months, and I wasn't aware that opinions had an expiration date Well, for some people they

add more construction modules to constructors so that one constructor could add more then one module to a starbase. Like trade modules to a freighter to increase trade revenue.

If we had enough room in football stadiums, a lot of people would put up with quite higher taxes for season tickets. That's definitely a male's perspective, and not universal at that for sure. It's a game. It works in that game. That's the standard excuse when you can't make things happen in a logical fashion, right. For instance, would you care if almost all money

Actually the topic is still an issue IMO. There could be some improvement. There's no doubt that the races are not really well balanced - even though some balancing has been made BUT using different aspects of race construction. The factors are many - homesystem PQ, moon/rings, # of asteroid fields, # of customization pts, racial abilities, starting techs, super abilities. Now, SAs and starting techs should be balanced seperately, because the former can be turned off and the latter - the bon

and dont get me started on a colony beeing able to grow to the size of twice the homeworld in just 20 game turns; that's just plain wrong! Correct scaling is not one of the best features of this game, unfortunately. I do think that the initial conditions for the game are very lame. You start your journey to the stars with your homeworld almost empty in terms of infrastructures, and yet you have 3 jump capable starships in orbit (one of which you

I don't see why planets couldn't be toxic, and aquatic at the same time. But, then again, perhaps that's nitpicking a bit much. Actually, aquatic planets don't make much sense period. It's not really possible to have a planet entirely covered by water. Earth, with ~2/3 of its surface covered with water, *is* an aquatic planet. These planets should be called Ice planets, and that includes frozen methane surfaces for example. On the same line of though

Not totally useless, since you can decommission them for I don't remember how much (must be 10~20 each), so it gives you a nice cash boost at the start of a war. (I never saw the computer do that thought.) Might as well give you the money right away then, better for the AI too. Not in small very-slow-tech games. <br

An excellent idea, that would make the anomaly-respawning crowd happy I'm sure. And a logic one, which is a bonus! It shouldn't be a certain thing though, maybe there there should be a chance for it to happen, and the bigger the battle the higher that chance. Maybe the Luck ability could have a part in it too. Post it to one of the wish list threads. It should be more than a mod.

The towing module should be about size 40. That way, smaller ships cannot tow. You're not forgetting miniaturization, are you? Some races have it innately too. An agent could redirect a mining starbase to your empire instead of the enemy's. A little far fetched, don't you think? Beyond simply needing to be more powerful, as would be fitting their size and expense, t

There isn't really much complexity in the new planet types. Just the research associated with it, and the tech trading that follows - which is not necessarily a good thing. As for the necessary part, they play exactly like normal planets once fully operational, so they're really just more of the same. The asteroid fields, they're just more of the same too, and those actually a necessity due to the extreme nerfing of the factories. Cheaper production that doesn't use up tiles, that's all. The esp

But some people seem to care. I think it's mostly a matter of "honesty" if you will. It's only really an issue for the AI when it is playing the Humans, since they don't start with Stellar Cartography - and even that is outdated and nonsensical, since even the Thalans, who have been in the galaxy for only a year or so, have it, and heck, even all the other non-original races *and* the Akilians have it too...

Had something strange happen with trade routes too. I was at war with the Korath, and they intercepted one of my frighters and destroyed it. The trade route however was still displayed in the starmap, and it still took one slot in the Trade screen, and it still produced Trade Income. This continued, until a couple of turns later the Korath offered a peace treaty. Don't know if it's related or not, but the freighter then reappered automatically out of nowhere, and went on its business like nothin

I like the idea of techs having consequences Sounds good. Will have to try that. both in the areas of relative costs of some techs, Yep, really needed. and the ability to set multiple pre-reqs for techs. I guess that's not in the game so that the AI is a "better" opponent. Easier to code.

Somewhat OT, but the Korath are supposed to be "ruined" Drengin, yet they have much better racial abilities, *and* a much better Super Ability. The Drengin SA is weak, it should have more to do with the differences between the two factions and the identity of the Drengin - they are supposed to be evil slavers. So maybe something along the lines of when they conquer a planet, part of the planet's original pop remains on the planet (as slaves), and gets a Military Production bonus (when at war?).

Size is relevant. The size of your ship determines two very key things in the game itself and does reflect within each and every battle. Well, if you read my post, I said it isn't really relevant anywhere, with "except combat" implied, since that's what was being discussed. The fact is size is relevant outside combat, but marginally, and not where you mentioned. Size determines the base Range of ships too, but the variance is hardly very influential.<br

the lonely all-male crews of the GalCiv starships are attracted to the women of different planets. This attraction acts like magnetism to move the ships, thus allowing a ship with no engines to move! Hmm, you mean you would feel attracted to a Thalan female?! That's nice, but I guess the VR modules in starships are more attractive. To me at least, but I guess we all have our secrets <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0

When a "basically useless" PQ3 planet evolves into an excellent PQ18, you know something is wrong. And yep, with no cost as neutral, that's abuse. If they want to make more planets available (special environments, low PQ), then generate more "normal" planets, and use those others for some special feature.

I disagree. Money is still needed to build all that stuff. What I meant was the following. This game basically tries to implement a game type (Civ) in an environment (space) where it really doesn't make sense, because it's not humans vs humans but humans vs aliens (the implementation of a background story was the main drive, still some large discrepancies exist). Some concepts that work with humans are not valid when applied to alien species. The concep

So yea, if taxes where anywhare near 79% then what would you do? the answer is... exactly what your doing right now! That's where you're wrong. Even after all those direct and indirect taxes (which don't all go to the central government), it doesn't get near 79%. Or 50% for that matter. Anyways, the guys that rule the country also pay taxes (remember we're not talking Imperialism only here), and would *they* impose 79% taxes? <img src="http://images.st

The Arceans may have invented the means to build a hyperdrive So you're rewriting the background story, eh? The mere fact that these aliens had stargates for thousands of years and didn't do jack with it proves their inferiority! They only do what the writer lets them do <img src="http://images.stardock.com/g
