I haven't gotten home yet to try it, but the Beta 2 Torian game I ran was very impressive. Their 50% morale building was sweet. I had the stock 16b on any race starting planet and then 20b on normal planets and had no problem keeping the people happy and still pulling cash in hand over fist. Yes, it had a lot to do with having a huge influence area and the OP tourism income...but still, the morale buildings were a nice touch to the population-happy Torians. The poor Terrans had no ch
You can also get a higher speed connection so downloads do not take as long.
Don't assume that: A) the option is available to him where he lives and B) he has the power to change the internet connection at the place he lives (kids do play this game and parents often have say). Way out in rural areas, the only options for internet is dialup or satellite (which is horridly overpriced). Yes, people DO live in areas not very wired yet. To the OP, th
Korath Clan: We don't know the meaning of the word 'overkill'.
Well, anybody stupid enough to walk up to the Korathian production engineer and say "you know, maybe we are working those slaves TOO much" finds himself being worked "too much" on the slave line. Weakness and morals are not something they have time for. If your not researching, working the assembly line or building buildings...you better damn well be having your finger on a trigger in space. Anybody else is

Ok, I'm a bit lost as to why there are about 3-4 20% manufacturing buildings that can be placed, then the Aul Incinerator on the same planet. I'd think the 20% buildings would be a previous version of each other. On a 30PQ planet w/o manufacturing capital and no bonus tiles I had created a social production ammount. Are they a bug, or should they all be able to be placed.

Ok, I thought that Dark Influence was going to be simply offsetting the -% influence from production buildings...however when I placed my first one, the Terran influence line retreated at least a sector back. From then on out, every planet on the border got one and any flipped planet got one. Sadly, who needs influence starbases when you had these monsters.

Up until I started this game I was still chugging away in MoO 1 (1992). So game play defiantly beats graphics in my mind. Too many of recent games have catered to the crowd of graphics. Give me Starcraft, Diablo 1 & 2, Lords of Magic or Baldurs Gate any day over the recent pile of goo (present company excluded).

I had the same unfortunate event back in DA. It was very unfortunate as it was "the perfect storm". I decided to see what the DL could be if you didn't gank them the first month of their arrival. BIG mistake. Ships with 2k mass drivers wasn't a welcome sight. The PQ 30 or so planet they made was nice too. The OTHER horrid thing that happened was that they had developed on a Torian world, and as you saw in your experience, there were Torian ships in orbit. So, in order to defeat th

The Dread Lords are pushovers as long as the Korath are somewhere in the galaxy. Purchase (for whatever cost) a spore ship from them and send that puppy to the planet once it's undefended. No amount of soldering helps vs a spore module. As for the mega-pirate event, I actually enjoy that every time it happens. The mega-pirates really makes you switch gears in the thought of galactic warfare. When their uber-ships are flying about, you just need to be able to out fly them or put up a
Do they really have to be planted on research facilities? Did not know that ... I always thought tech stealing would still be like in DL, where you came to steal a tech once you had all info on the civ. Either way, I do not recommend you to use spies to steal tech. That is far too expensive and you will need all of your spies to defend yourself against the other civs, spying at you.
You need to have spies planted in DA in order to have the chance to steal a tech. Already sent in asa bug report, but wanted others to know it's reported at least once. Playing as Terran, the tech tree is a little...odd when you look down the beam weapon tree. After lasers it ends. Plasma weapons stems off the mass driver tree. Something else that I'm not sure is on purpose, but when playing arceans, the tech "Adamantium Armor" is available at the start of the game. Sure, with Very Fast research on, it would take 300 weeks to finish, but I still am not su

...and more importantly, keep any method of making peace off the table (I'm looking at you UP Vote....) I guess dissolving the UP would fix my underlying problem.

I think that all through 1.7 beta I've been noticing that if you go to a planet via the colony management screen, fill in some tiles then hit "done" to return to the colony management screen, the available tiles doesn't update. Example, at the CM screen a planet shows up as 12(7) and you double click on the planet to go to it, toss in 7 buildings then hit done. The CM screen still shows it as 12(7) whereas before 1.7 it would show as 12. If I click the CM tab again it'll refresh the l

I think it may be because the AI takes it's turn (everything except ships) at the same time you are working on your turn. So before you placed the CEC, an AI got spies qued to go on those tiles.

The only thing I've noticed with auto survey, is I had an event where each civ could only survey inside their space and it tried to survey outside my space so I kept getting yelled at. Sounds just like the AI attacking trade vessels under the protection of the trade federation or the galactic privateer wonder... My only problem (may be intended) is that once all anomalies within range are gone, auto surv

I checked this out and it turns out that due to logic bug, your negative treasury balance is being converted to a lease. I've fixed this for the next update. Here I thought that was intentional. Paying off what you could, then taking a loan out for the rest. So you are looking to change it so that if you don't have enough, you just get a lease for it and your treasury stays put? That'll cost more money in

This is pretty much essential really if they are going to respawn. (which I think is ace) The computer players will always be able to see when one has respawned, yet unless the human player wants to scroll around the map each turn checking, they're not going to be getting the advantages this system provides and so will be handicapped. Perhaps just selecting the ship and hitting the button for it to Auto Survey will be enough w/o a fix from them. Yes, yo

2) Ships defending planets --> Unless using an Orbital Fleet Manager, defensive ships are basically taking turns lining up to be killed by the invading forces; there is no logical reason why they should do this that I can see. The OFM is okay, I guess, but the space required to build it on makes it less appealing, much less the fact that it's unique. So, only one planet in the empire has clued in to the idea of a coordinated defense? I suggest, as an altern

Sometimes another way is to copy all the discs onto your harddrive, install from there, then delete the files you used to install from. I remember I had to do this with a certain MMOG's discs. This only works if the disc itself is fine and it's a computer file transfer problem. All depending on your computer, it may be a simple checkbox that needs cleared though. My friend's Dell XPS had something that needed unchecked to make his drive accept multiple disc installations....go go Del

You would get 0, not surprisingly. Not the same as simply 'not counting'--it still counts as a game in the calculations, so if you already have valid games posted it will actually lower your overall score. Shows you how much I know about cheating now now doesn't it lol. Cheating....why?
