Yea, DesktopX 2.1 will be huge!

I just exported just the default blue object as exe: 300Kb file size and around 1Meg in RAM. That's the stand alone Exe footprint, so very very low. The only "overhead" is the very core code and graphic renderer, plus plugins (differently from DX, there are no hooks, wallpaper, workarea, systray management components and such). The extra RAM and size is for graphics and other plugins. Exes are totally independent by the current DX version. If you compile them with version x.y, that'll be the
It is slightly less resourse intensive in that the executable itself is smaller, there are no GUI dialoge, no wallpaper, desktop, workarea, systray code etc at runtime. That said, usually graphics take most of the overall object size in RAM.
Konfabulator widgets are in .sit and .dmg. Mac users don't use .ZIP.So unless Konfabulator for the PC somehow bundles .sit and .dmg (which adds more overhead) then sharing widgets between the platforms isn't going to be easy. I think there is so much more. A few examples: - CPU meter. It is an hell doing that on Windows. The PDH API is full
Ok, should be fixed with next build.
The date and hour plugin should have custom defined formats like those ones. In any case we'll have new better versions of them soon.
SDTaskManager.dll and dxtoys.dll are currently on the black list. Also, all old-style plugins (the ones in \Plugins\ that cause DX to show a different GUI, when used in objects) should be replaced by SD plugin equivalent (\SDPlugins\). We will work to be sure all features will be available in SD bug-free plugins.
> The icons with IconX are fine, but the object on some themes indeed have a black box arond them. It's now fixed in internal build. You should wait a bit for Alpha 2.
> But will it be able to add a shadow to ANY object, even if its not an icon or a zoomer? Not done already, but it definitely is on the top of the todo list. It is mostly an issue of fitting all options in the States GUI for DX objects. There could be an extra panel called "Shadow" near "Alpha", "Animation" etc config panels. Btw, the ss doesn't make justice to IconX labels. They can have all those options as well and can be so much cooler.
Lecrayon: yea, I'm still finishing to write docs for Plus 1.09 (basically animation scripts and animated trails).
CursorEx schemes (.CurExScheme) will work just fine with CursorXP. DavidK: could you repost your Pewter, Gold and Chrome themes to the CursorXP section? They were pretty cool.
Mack: I think the version 1.3 works a lot better with games than previous versions, in any case we still work to reach full compatibility. Also by now remember that for this issue CursorEx has a quick hotkey switch (ctrl+shift+c by default) to enable/disable it. What are the games that have problems with CursorEx, so we can directly test and work on a fix?
It works fine under XP. Btw, new CursorEx release coming some time in August or September with better system integration and brand new cool features.
