This sounds like a really cool idea on paper... But I think it would be near impossible to implement this well. And in any case it would only really work with AI players and would be a tad cheesy and gimmiky IMHO...

I really like the idea of significant long term instability coming from conquered cities. This would be a potential counter to too quick of a steamrolling as biting off more than you could chew so to speak would have the potential to have devastating results. Troops would be needed for peacekeeping for quite some time.

I really like these ideas of political and social intrigue. While I think that actually turning the soveregns own family should be nigh impossible I think it would be cool to have other 'neutral' families that you could recruit from if you gain their loyalty. But that they could switch sides eventually.

I really liked the total war style battles. At least in RTW the only one I played. But they did tend to get excessively long and dull eventually. But I think that is a common problem for tactical battles in general. The other big issue is the AI sucking. I think this compounds the first problem because it comes to the point where you're thinking "OMG I'm so tired of fighting this huge stack of enemy armies. The same strategy I used last time will work this time but it took me 30min to

In some kind of grand cosmic sense I feel sure that this is an absolutely hilarious joke (maybe to the beings of the 5th dimension that he keeps claiming to think in). While my consciousness can just barely feel the impression of how funny it must be, my mortal mind cannot help but be utterly frustrated and confused to the point of extreme irritation.

Point one: I don't think this family/dynasty system changes that you lose if your sovereign dies. I believe this is indicated that your sovereign is immortal (at least immune to old age) in contrast to all of your heirs. Point two: The idea of family relations and how you treat different members of a family affecting the view of that family as a whole. Imagine if you had to make the decision of what to do with an incompetent but high born hero. Who are you going to make govenor of tha

No.. .I think influence is more of a cultural think. Military could have some affect on that. Probably depending on what they're doing (killing people negative influence, helping people positive influence). But even if the people WANT to be under someone else's control they're still gonna be scared of your military. There may be some geurilla groups that would fight back but not enough to fight off true military occupation...
