Its hilarious how much this is like a Warcraft 3 Starfall topic. Its pretty obvious the designers are huge War3 fans (or gamers in general). I think one problem with SoaSE compared to War3 is that its not as easy to instantly identify units, ships and abilities. Its pretty obvious when there is a level 6 PotM nearby. I am only just now about to try playing on hard. So far the Normal AI is impressive in a few ways, and unimpressive in many others. If it wasn't for some very obvious things that the AI does wrong, it would be ok. a couple interesting things i found - pressing 'c' not only centers on the selected ship but will also auto-select a non-autopilot ship with movement points remaining if there is one. (havent tested this a whole lot to confirm it). - you can double-click on the icons of ships in the ship list menu (F1) to order them to use their movement points if they are on auto pilot. these are the closest things i found to the two things i really wish there was, which are the 'find any
