Installing V1.4 without the internet? in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

ok, i have a laptop downstairs with the internet. I have my computer upstairs which has GC2 installed, as V1.0, limited edition Europe edition. I have (last night) downloaded the V1.4 patch downstairs, onto my USB, and then installed it upstairs. Everything seemed to be working ok, until i tried to run the game. After finally entering the correct activation code (from the paradox pages), i then found that i was unable to run the damn game, the the activation key needs to connect to the internet!
