Nothing to say but "congrats" to IC and SD. Can't wait to get my grubby paws on this. ...I'll blame you if I fall behind on my thesis work, for the record.

Looks like a meaty manual. :D
I'm going with Kol.
Well now, I'm quite glad to hear that. It'll encourage even more z-axis movement without adding complexity. <3
Unless, of course, the "fleet point building" (if there is one) isn't logistics based, but some other quantity-based (of which the volcanic planets might have more of). We just don't know yet.
I should point out though that they did no damage at all. Just kinda weird is all... Thats because damage is not linked to when the graphics hit the target, but rather when its fired.
Sorta, I think. In the .entity files, under weapon types, there's a property called "DamageApplyType". Most weapons are set to "BACKLOADED", so they operated just like you mentioned. Some, n
...only to learn that its the most eclectic of the three races.
Not something I need to learn. Only endears me to them more. ;)
I'm not really much a fan of banners in general (I'm one of those people that tends to disable sigs in forums that support them), but hey... why not. And maybe a Sins userbar: A start, anyway. I'll probably put more up once I can get on and take some screenshots. :p
That just makes me want to play Advent all the more. :o
You'll get caught up in it.
Videoclips/cinematics in the middle of an RTS (or pretty much any real-time game these days) = nothx. It interrupts the game for something that can just as easily be done in engine. Ends of missions/campaigns are one thing. Middle of a match is another.
Not to turn this into a tech support thread derailment, but... As I imagine you've seen, that's an empty quote. It seems you're filtering the gifs, for some reason (as the ones you can see are all jpgs). Just as a simple test, I've converted one of the jpgs to a gif -- see if this shows for you:
Mhmm, just thought it was notable enough to warrant mentioning :p
It is worth noting that with all 3 range upgrades, the Vas LRMs outrange the Gauss Cannons. (7616 v 7500)
Schod -- just look at the .entity files. In FrigatePhaseLongRange.entity Range 6800.000000 In PLANETMODULE_TECHORBITALGAUSSDEFENSE.entity Range 7500.000000
No, they don't. Earlier betas had resources that ran out, but even in the outdated beta4, asteroids are in-exhaustible. Orbital Refineries now just provide increased resource collection instead of compensating for depleted asteroids.
Well, it does seem to imply that they're using some version that we don't have, given that we've never seen this behavior:
In order to improve diplomatic relations with one race, we were asked to wipe out 10 civilian colonies of another race, so we obliged.
*shrug* I'm not overly concerned either way, though.
Absolutely. You asked for it, and now you have it.
Ahem. We asked for it, and in 16 days we have it. ;)
That was just going into the Kol's entity file and changing the "cooldown" value for its autocannons (and decreasing damage appropriately) and increasing volley size. Really a simple change -- the only work involved is doing it for allll ships. Gets a bit tedious :p More recently, I played with replacing TEC "lasers" with flashbeams of the Kol's beam color. Modding these things is *really* easy. [link="http://www.dailymotion.com/Tseddicus/video/x3e6go_tec-beams_videogam
Honestly, if the firing rates aren't to my liking in final, I'll probably just make a small "battle spice" mod to get everything looking to my liking without changing balance and upload it somewhere for anyone who's interested, so, whatever. I'm not terribly interested in adding a miss chance, as it'll affect balance (something I'm *not* out to do), but increased volley size usually results in a perceived miss rate -- as if you're firing against a moving target, the volley "trail" tends to fall
Just so you can see what you can get with a little modding (this was just a first attempt at getting the effect in an earlier beta, but serves to show what you can get with just minor modding). [link="http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-407227294302653153"]Kol's with increased firing dueling it out.[/link]
Um, are you sure? I'm pretty sure I've seen influence creeping across star systems.
The gameplay itself is really like nothing I've played before. The cat-and-mouse game that capship hunting can become, the pacing that allows for a fleet to home in on your worlds while your own fleets dash through phasespace in a desperate attempt to crush the enemy fleet before they tear through your defenses... it's pretty unique. The resource system, while vital to your survival, sorta fades into the background -- something you're always aware of, but doesn't require constant attention (ok
By default? No, I don't think (most of) the Celestia textures will work. Celestia uses a bunch of different formats, iirc. However... it's not exactly complex to convert them. :)
Way to get us reset (whomever it was, that is) :/
