k first why complain about the simple things this is a new kind of game its cool yes somethings may be lacking but can u name me a perfect game with nothing wrong or with all the correct real life settings if u can ill just shut up but i will not till u show me one + its just a game a form of entertainment not life k just chill out k
True indeed! Remember that, whether or not other games have specific features shouldn't really matter, unless the feature is standard -
They will scatter into cover if a tank round explodes near them, but yea, just moving to cover.
kk thx
In CoH's Infantry and to a lesser extent tanks will search for cover when being shot at and try and stay in there most effective weapons range.
But this isn't actually moving to dodge, is it? They're just moving to cover, right?
From the beginning Schod has said that except for strikecraft or their equivalents, units do not move automatically to dodge in any RTS. Homeworld games, they don't. I mean, sure, they move to range, bring guns to bear, but dodge? No. Except, of course, the strikecraft. ORB, the same, except probably more so. Don't know about CoH, so I couldn't tell you :P C&C, helicopters move, but it's really more aesthetic than anything else, for me at least. I never saw a "dodging" longbow, f
Hey Bob mate; do you want to just stop arguing about this? I think we're just going to continue for ever and the argument won't reach an end. How about it?
i hope ur not trying to see every single post i make *rolls eyes*
lol sorry mate; didn't mean to intrude :P
Yup; I've seen someone take the cake. You are now a moron! Congratulations, dimwit. You didn't read! Didn't read! Didn't read! I'm not too surprised, seeing that you don't really read most other stuff. You're using rhetoric to justify your arguments; that's why they're flawed. I'm posting because I'm trying to help this guy worrying about a pointless thread, which this isn't. The reason I'm responding to you is to let Vic know that this guy who's putting down his thread for NO REASO
maybe his friend is gay?
Perhaps indeed. Worth inquiring, Vic? ...or rather not, just to be on the safe side? :P jk mate
now if ANY of you can find me a prolific game where all of the units move around sporadically for no other reason than to dodge fire, I'll bow down and kiss the floor. until then this thread is full of a bunch of trollmongering and name calling.
Schod is entirely correct, to my knowledge.
Moving around in space is not so much to "Dodge" whatever than to move at relativistic speeds so that the doppler-effect kicks in and it's harder to aim.
Eh? Going from stationary to relativistic speeds in seconds would mulch the inhabitants of the spacecraft... unless they have Star Trek-esque "Inertial Dampeners" or something. Which would also solve taltamir's problem... but realism sort of goes away... Come on, you'd need, what, 0.3 or 0.4c before beginning to notice th
I see but I fail to see the difficulty tbh. Would it imply to much overhead in the network code ? Desync problems or something. Can you give me a link or dev log where this is explained why it is cut ?
Sorry about the delay in replying :) Tbh, I have no idea about the network code or anything like that - I just assumed that it was because, as a real time strategy, it would be hard to fit a ship design thingy in there and maintain the pace of the game...
Company of Heroes, Homeworld 2, ORB, Nexus, Sword of the Stars, the flying units in all C&C games and in Supreme Commander. And that's just those I can think of in under 30 seconds. Yes, even more than 10 years ago people already had automatically dodging units in games. Just look at how revolutionary this game is by breaking with those age old standards
To be entirely honest, out of HW2, ORB, Nexus, even C&C flying units, and SupCom units only moved to maintain range (I hav
Bah, he rated both Crysis and World in Conflict as 9.5's.
World in Conflict was, and is, fantastic. You can't really expect less in an RTT from the makers of Ground Control. I don't know about Crysis though - haven't played it :P
Oh no. I'm a guy. My friend gave it to me as a "So Sorry you're single" gift.
ROFL!! I suppose it happens :P
hey man nice job. this will be the first mod ill be trying for sins.
Nice. Constructive comment!
of what i saw the game didnt adresse me, but something else did
ROFL! Problem is, I don'think (neat contraction, eh?) what you're referring to actually appears in the game. So you probably need the trailer, and not the game :P
never said it was a waste of time..
I don't really care. Once again you haven't read what I said. I'll keep the message short so you can comprehend it. Just one thing, for the record: I never said you said it was a waste of time; I only said
I'm just wondering why you are posting, if you think this is pointless. That's what I'm not getting.
And you said:
im trying to point out to its a pointless thread
And if you can't rea
Anyway, If the key that came with the pirated game isn't a serial number, then I think this thread has just about reached its usefulness, seeing as I'm probably going to use the CD I got as a coaster.
You're very welcome, sir :P And I hope you enjoy many coffees on that CD... or whatever else you'll use it for :P
im trying to point out to its a pointless thread since i think you failed to come up with that conclusion on your own..
I think the conclusion is erroneous. That's why I'm disagreeing.
the op could of just asked his friend how he pirated the game. surely his friend would of told him what most people are telling him here. surely he knows that the cd key is one used by all those thousands of other pirates who pirated the game..
Perhaps... but there i
No, don't be like that! It's a difficult question to ask, and you're honourable for having asked it. Good man! Philistines thinking that questions about piracy are lame shouldn't rate in one's opinion of a thread's validity (- again, no insult meant to Bob.) Don't worry!
None taken - I'm just a bit puzzled as to why you're not only wasting our time, but your own, in responding to it, if it's really so pointless.
Bob - just shut up. It was a valid question. EDIT: Forgive my bluntness - I think I'm in a bit of a mood :P
I see moliner's point; thank you! Concerning the rest of the series - it's not a necessary follow-up to Ender's Game (I've only read up to Xenocide at this stage and will continue further), but the philosophy in it combined with everything else makes for an absolutely fantastic read. Just great. But that's just an opinion from a guy having read only three of the books :P Thanks for the input!
Hi guys, I realize this is about the third post I have done on the retail release of Sins in Aus, and the second concerning EB. However, I have an update here - after contacting EB about Sins' release in Australia, I got: (in response to) Hi; I was wondering whether you had heard of Ironclad's new PC game "Sins of a Solar Empire" - I haven't found it on the "Coming Soon" section. I believe the "release date" for this game in Australia is 18 April 2008, and is to be publ
Hi guys, Today I read a post by Craig, or rather a review linked by the post by Craig. Being so interminably lazy I couldn't be bothered to go back and find the URL other than remember the site was "squadleader" or something like that. Anyway, I only read the first paragraph of the review and it resonated deeply with me. For anyone who's read one of the few truly philosophical science fiction series' based on Ender's life etc, does anyone else feel that this game accomplish
