If the monuments have Pagan subtext, then they should be torn down as part of the separation between Church and State.

I agree with you that searching individuals in an airport is as ridiculous as the government keeping all groups of people under surveillance, but I really doubt airports will end such "security measures" soon.
Please! Teachers (secondary or college) can assign readings from The Bible, and I, for one, do so. Really? They can actually have their students read religious texts in public schools?
and Republicans call Democrats stubborn.... So, there's no possibility at all of humans making mistakes, whether intentional or unintentional, that machines won't? And demanding recounts until the numbers appear in your favor isn't stubborn?
The problem here is that the USA is making the UN out to be worse than it. The worst scandal here is the scandal of the United States fabricating evidence to go to war with Iraq. It doesn't matter if it was Bush, but then by the reasoning here he should be held responsible and should step down. And the UN seems right now to be better.. because I didn't see them invading
Pat Robertson has been known to distort issues in the past and will continue to do so. He points to a very extreme person that noone could agree with and tries to paint that person as being in the mainstream of the left. The Christian Broadcasting network announced on the radio that during a Kerry event that he sat on a throne with his assistant fanning him with palm le
Is the school publically funded in any way? If so, then to allow them to promote any religious beliefs, even in the guise of education, is intolerable. Hell, people get pissy over the fact that a teacher mentions that the the Declaration of Independence mentions a "Creator", but forcing students to read the Quran is all right?
zealous is derived from the word zealot which is a term used to describe a specific sect of religious fanatics. Now if that isn't arguing over semantics... as i explained, the definition of dogma you cited w
by bringin in dictionary.com (which, by the way, has done a very poor job of defining dogma) youre the one focusing on semantics. dogma may be an opinion but its one that arises outta revelation. more to the point of this discussion, all fundamentalists do not force their beliefs or principles on others. christian and muslim fundamentalists often do. those who do, do so
Abortion, like war, should be a last resort. I disagree with that. If nothing's wrong with abortion, then what would be wrong with a woman doing it willy nilly?
This is money that can be better spent on other more importtant projects. As to what I have not yet looked into any one program, however, I am sure most of you can. Oh, there is one; infact one that is close to my heart "The National Diabettes Foundation." So, the government should cut funding to preserve historical churches and end the National
There is one billion muslims in this world ,deal with it , One billion Muslims and yet so much silence concerning the atrocities the "non-Muslim" terrorists commit.
Let's look at one of the definitions of dogma according to Diictionary.com : A principle or belief or a group of them. Don't secularists have principles and beliefs? Are you purposely focusing on semantics, or do you acknowledge that secularists can be as bad as fundamentalists can be at forcing their beliefs and principles onto others?
Its actually a story over pork barrel spending. It shouldn't be supported from either side. Of course, Bush did sign it into law. Is preserving missions pork-barrel spending? If so, what about preserving anything else? <TD class="mb-Body-
I would also like to point out the fact that if Donald does not have to resign as Sec. Defense even though he messed up BIG TIME, then why should an elected leader resign? Because, if the United Nations is not going to act any better than the United States, then why should anybody think it more noble than the United States and its interests?
You're right that the United States isn't angelic either, but that does not excuse the corruption in the United Nations. In fact, when you consider that it's supposed to be "better" than the United States (just as the United States is supposed to be better than Saddam Hussein), it's intolerable that such scandals take place. If the scandal occurred under Kofi Anan's clock, then he should resign. Just like many want Rumsfield to resign because of his incompetence and
Terrorists don't just hihack planes you realize and this post isn't just about hijackers. Also although I don't sit in front of a pile of stats I am positive there have been non-Muslims that have hijacked planes before. If you NEED an instance then you really are as narrow-minded as I thought you were. How many muslims have hijacked planes in the US in the last 50 years. T
If there was anything 'half-way' logical about it then that would have been fine. But not only is it not logical but there is an major facts that people here have to ignore to come to these conclusions (stated above). If there's a significant number of non-Muslim terrorists who have hijacked planes, then I'd love to see a list, and I'll defi
Thats what you get for buying cheap PC disguised as a console. The Xbox isn't the only one with buggy games. They're now on all consoles these days. Even Metroid Prime, one of the greatest games ever, would occasionally freeze when using the elevators. Besides, it's not the fault of Microsoft or the Xbox as it is for the lazy developers.
Sheesh!!!! What did we Jews do to derve that one?? Sorry about that. I only meant it as a joke and in no way do I think that Chanukah is any less than Christmas.
Merry Christmas, even if you are a jerk. You're too nice. He doesn't deserve a Merry Christmas. A Happy Chanukah maybe, but not a Merry Christmas!
i dont like the fact that his administration instated the patriot act, or the fact that we havent gotten a cent of his tax cuts. Unless you don't pay taxes, you have received a cent of his tax cuts, as anybody who paid taxes received a cut.
If people really do think students should not be allowed to express their religious beliefs because people with different beliefs will be ridiculed, and if they're serious about not wanting children to be ridiculed, then they should do as this one school I heard about does and have every child wear a uniform, have children in cubicles, forbid them from talking to one another, etc. Only then will children have the slightest chance of growing up without being ridiculed.
Homosexuality is not a religion, and to compare it with one is ridiculous. Whether or not you want to acknowledge it, some homosexuals do shove their sexuality down the throats of others. Same with politics, wealth, and sex record. Do you honestly believe that students aren't ridiculed for those non-religious things? If so, then you need to open
For the life of me, I don't understand why Christians have to shove their christianity down the throats of everyone else. I don't know. Perhaps it's the same reason why homosexuals shove their homosexuality down everybody's throats and why liberals shove their politics down everybody's throats.
