I think the US should make a compromise. It shouldn't offer any military support whatsoever, but replace it with a boost to the % of GDP it throws away to the UN. Surely that'll make everybody happy.

That's so true. In fact, I've noticed that those (including myself in the past) who are self-absorbed in their own life are not as happy as those who aren't. It's much harder to be happy when one thinks his friends aren't doing enough for him when he's not doing anything for them.

the immediate reactions here from the right were clear enough. how dare the UN call the US stingy. quick answer they didn't. he could have just as easily been talking about the EU. A direct look at the numbers in the US make it seem as though we don't give, but they only include government money and do not include money and manpower from charitable organizations. Mr Eng

Heck, they can even pray DURING school in their heads, if they really feel the need to. But there's also nothing wrong with a child praying aloud in public with a group of other children, right? After all, in no way does children praying together = government forcing religion onto others. Sure, it might distract those who aren't Christian, b

Here's my novel idea for the sequel to Osmosis Jones... Osmosis Jones 2: Self-Destruction This movie takes place one year after the first. Shortly after Frank Detomello (Bill Murray) returns from his vacation in Haiti, the inhabitants of the City of Frank notice a peculiar behavior in their protectors, the white blood cells, who have taken to demolishing the very city they vowed to serve. Osmosis Jones (Chris Rock), one of the few unaffected white bloo

And it is usually the people in poorer countries that need the most help, yet some lucky people in the richer countried criticize helping these people out. Who has criticized helping these people out? What people have criticized is how after we help, people bitch and moan that we don't do enough, and bitch and moan for more money. You might

But they are still using the same format. There is no conversion to a different format like .wba As far as artwork goes i don't see how every msstyles is a mod of luna if the artwork is totally redone. Msstyles is nothing more than a skin format. The artwork is original. The images are their own creations, but everything concerning t

I wish you luck in college. The first time's always painful, but with enough preparation, motivation, and peers (to share the burden with), you'll do better than I did (I failed 3 out of 4 classes). I also wish you the best with your stepsisters and the rest of your loved ones. I too need to make sure my loved ones know I love them and that I'm happy to have them in my life. I consider that to be the most important thing one needs to do to have a meaningful life. Good luck with your reso

Before SkinStudio had a decent .msstyle importer, I'd convert the visual styles I liked manually, so even without the importer, SkinStudio could be used to import .msstyles. I guess it isn't technically right, but would I be wrong to think that everybody converts somebody else's IP into another format, such as a BMP image into a JPG? I'm sure everybody's even altered an image's size. Does that mean that Photoshop and other image editors should remo

You have to admit, Messybuu, that there is arrogance in your tone that exceeds the arrogance of Europeans. I think the point should be the language of understanding that there does exist other nations in the world I could accept that the tone of it was arrogant. I definitely could have reworded some sentences a bit better. I'm sure the averag

Europeans could be resentful, you might be right there, but I think many americans are ignorant, although I feel oblivious might be a better word. Did you read the article? Wow, and you wonder why people hate us. Obviously our

You've definitely heard that Americans are ignorant of foreign affairs, right? It's usually said by one of our Western European neighbors or an American in love with Western Europe. Are Americans uniquely ignorant of what happens beyond their borders, or are Europeans resentful because we don't pay as much attention to them as they do to us? People often criticize Americans for not knowing multiple languages, pointing out that Europeans usually know two or three. Is it because America

How about the theory that conservatives only want to hear their own slanted views repeated back to them. Perhaps only liberals really care about the truth and don't need Fox news, Ann Coulter or slanted blog.com to reassure them. That would be another possibility, if not for the fact that I doubt most people can honestly say that CBS, the New Yor

I was/am one of the people who am vehemently against a government sponsored advocation of one religion, two religions, or any religions at all. This is why I advocate keeping religion out of public education completely, out of courthouses, and out of police stations, hospitals, etc. That does not mean I would ban a student who wants to pray in the school from doing so. If

I'm all for the separation of church and state, but as others have mentioned, there are different types of it. For example, to some, separation of church and state means forbidding students, who are not government employees, from expressing religious beliefs. To others, it means not having an official state religion. To some, it means removing the mentioning of God from the dollar bill while allowing the symbols to remain. It's actually a bit complicated.

This is money that can be better spent on other more importtant projects. As to what I have not yet looked into any one program, however, I am sure most of you can. if that were the case, this thread would have half as many comments as it does. Do a search for American Heritage Dictionary on this page . If you still can't find it, and if you still deny that words have multiple definitions, then what's the point of discussing anything with you?

Terpfan, this is patently not true, and is only a myth perpetrated by the likes of Robertson and Hannity. No one is trying to take religion out of society. We are only trying to maintain the separation of church and state, as defined in the Constitution. It is the radical right who seem to be buying into the Robertson/Hannity hyperbole by saying that the separation of C&S

WhoTF is going to demand a recount when they won? The Democrats, right? After all, they aren't demanding recounts because they lost. They're doing it so that the election is fair, right? Or was that simply propaganda by liberals?

This is a load of BS!!! If they had won in the first count we wouldn't be having this conversation now would we? So don't try to give me the crap that they're trying to make it fair. No, it's making the results fair. What I about Republicans is that they get mad when the Democrats try to make an election fair. I'm not saying that all the votes were counted correctly, that is almost impossible. I'm saying that the hand recount was the most precise count. So, by demanding recounts until they win, the Democrats are trying t
