I used Linux a long time ago, and unless it has made remarkable changes (i.e. evolution as significant as OS 9 to OS X) in the last three years, I think I could say with confidence that Windows 98

glad to know you've joined those of us who have serious reservations about the scriptures for that very same reason. Therefore, what's the point of debating over it referring to "graven images" since it could possibly mean "silver images" or "golden images" or "sacrilegious images?"

if there was a question as to whether there's a proscription against graven images you'd have a point. nobody is debating that (or the translation of the other commandments) tho. nor is there really any question as to the nature of a graven image. the issue of whether it's hypocritical to make a graven image of the tablets may no

The point I am trying to make here is the difference between committing suicide as a violent act of kiiling yourself immediately rather than doing it slowly.. both are doing the same thing.. yet one is seen as a crime and the other not. One is acceptable the other isnt. Well, one is intentionally done t

I think therefore I am. I know I exist. If I didn't exist, I couldn't be pondering my own existence. Therefore I must exist in some form. For all I know, everyone else is a hologram or a robot and I am in the Matrix, but even if I were in the Matrix, I exist in some form. However, I don't know that you

The soul that walks in darkness must have the Light to expose its error? By leaving untruth on the table means we participate, somewhat in its deception. What do you think? I like to show light for how it's supposed to be shown: warmly and lovingly. I really doubt the pharisees are the ones we should be

Perhaps it was Enoch. It is not impossible that it was Moses. With God nothing is impossible. Heb 9:27 "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment..." Since man is destined to die once , I really doubt that Moses would be the witness, as he would then die twic

I don't think any of us should debate what "graven images" means, since it could be a mistranslation. Unless any of us can fluently speak the original language in which the passages in question were written, and unless we have the original documents, all we have is what other people have said it meant. For all we know, it could be "sacrilegious images."

I remember seeing Excalibur in my freshman year of high school. Sure, that has some naughty bits, but not only did they fast forward past them (to the disappointment of dudes like me), but Excalibur was actually relevant to the curriculum (i.e. King Arthur). I wonder how Saw was relevant to anything. Is there a SERIAL KILLER who drives people to suicide in that school?

Thanks! I checked that site, I'm guessing it could mean something along the lines of "It (fortune) smiles on our undertakings." However, that third person could be anything from fortune, to Britain, to France, to Christianity, to God, etc. Clearly it has to refer to something though, and I guess that's where context comes into play. Looking right below the motto on the dollar bill...

aaaaaaaaahahahaha youre the one too lazy to go back and find the original thread in which i explained why your favorite phrase can easily be understood to mean the equivalent of 'fortune smiles on us' and suggested you check one of the many online latin resources for confirmation. there's no direct implication or involvement of the divine (unless you happen to worship the

Yeah, thanks. I think you already made this point the last million times that you've said it. It's too bad that you have to screw everything up by making broad generalizations about groups of people, since the point is quite good and valid, albeit beaten into the ground so much its rendered nearly unrecognizable. Sometimes it's necessary to beat

Just think. If these organizations asked us to tolerate the incestuous and the polygamous as real people, the liberals would be just as pissed that such an organization is teaching their children to openly accept such behavior or be labeled a bigot. Of course, I'm sure these tolerance groups think of the polygamous and the incestuous as subhuman as other liberals do (which we know is true because denying the right to marry = treating a group as subh

I think JC would be pissed at the crap some folks (like dubya) are doing in his name. Allah too! The problem with religion begins when you put the word "organized" in front of it! Same with when you put "Party" in front of something. Ever notice how the Democrat Party seems much more corrupt an

hahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha What's funny is that I'm right. If you honestly think that everything in existence is not outside the reach of human comprehension, then you're no different than a teenager (which might explain a few things).

you believe you know what it means. And you have given me no reason to believe otherwise. All you have given me is: 1) Not one source to back up one claim you have made since this whole debate began, whether it was about the all-seeing eye or "Annuit coeptis." 2) A common Latin saying that e

You're lucky I'm liberal though, that makes me tolerant of your beliefs. I don't know. Calling oneself liberal doesn't automatically make one tolerant. I've seen plenty of liberals who are pretty intolerant of other people's beliefs. Tolerance is not exclusive to conservatives or liberals!

Just because something wasn't mentioned in the Torah or the Bible does not mean that it never existed. Are cats ever mentioned in the Bible? I also prefer trusting sciences when they are built on repeatable experiments and observations and not on calculations that are always sketchy in an attempt to figure out our past. Sure, I might have blind faith in the Bible, but some people have blind faith in man, so I don't see why my faith's any worse.
