it's a wierd unconfirmed vicious cycle. you get a % in approval from another race for doing their missions, but the minute you destroy one of his ships (say they come into your gravity well) then you reset back to zero. The AI, however unconfirmed, doesn't appear to fight eachother as much but tells others to attack you for a % approval, only they never get reset to zero since they don't attack eachother and the result seems to be that the AI will gang up on you.

I would like random events seige frigates get lower hp across the board and/or move much much slower tech trading would be cool like in GCII, BUT, also being able to keep the techs you researched whether or not you still have the labs or not. It is a penalty for researching AND trying to play from behind. The current research-to-lab system benefits players with many many planets. they can put their labs anywhere behind the front lines while the player with only 3 p

I think an easy tactic would be to build planet seige vessels and take them behind the front lines. But by mid game, if you only have 1/4 of what your enemies have, you don't have the fleet spots to make those frigates and something enough to defend your system. And I even tried to use the pirates to my advantage. I was trying to pay them 30,000 in gold to attack my enemy, but I was never sure what they were able to do. I think that by the time they made it to a system to collect the bounty,

It seems to me that in Sins, there is no "play from behind." Meaning, if you don't get enough planets to make a massive fleet, you'll never win. I played on a medium galaxy and though I had 3 planets and three asteroids in a straight line, I could never defend it against the enemies. In retrospect, if I had just grabbed every planet I saw, I might have won, but others have pointed out how even using choke points, it is difficult to defend a big faction of planets, though the AI seems decent a

defence is nerfed a little. I can have a fleet and many guass platforms (say 10) and a repair platform. But siege frigates en masse can destroy a maxxed out population quicker then I can destroy them. Siege frigates have to cost more to build, be weaker, and hit softer and take up a bigger logistics spot. They should be completely toast against any other space craft because, as i understand it, their weapons are for planets. I alt+missle platforms to focus on one siege frigate at a time whil

then it becomes very difficult to win if you only have two planets that are well protected. it seems that if you should pay in crystal and gold for knowledge that that does not disappear from your "knowledge" once attained.

I noticed that if I researched something that took 4 research stations and researched that item, that if I dismatle/skuttle a station that would bring me under the 4 previously required, I won't be able to build another structure gained from the previous research. For example, I researched Media hubs pretty deep into their abilities like almost no where to go in that direction and then I tried to take down labs to clear logistics space for a crap load of media hubs, but all of the sudden it tol

I have been playing since Beta 2. Now that I have the real game, it is superior to all others I have. The AI is good, and I play on normal. My first game I restarted and still lost though I started from a previous save and tried a different approach. The graphics are great and my system is stable. I have found the pirates workable reading the advice given in this forum. I have found the diplomacy missions workable and in fact satisfied a few while not intending to!!! Thing is, I am s

I have being playing this game off and on and I have, what even now, is still considered a fast. rig. 680i, 8800gtx, 6600 quadcore oc'd to 3 ghz. Though multitasking is cool, I notice that Sins seems to be a CPU hog. For example, I can usually capture video from a camcorder using pinnicale and do other things on the computer. BUT, if I am playing sins, I will drop frames in the video capture. Ofcourse, this could have to do with disk access more than CPU access. Perhaps I need to set an af

I have an issure with the mouse too. I have the logitech MX revolution. I am used to double clicking on items to "center" them and then safely zoom into them. In beta 4, it often takes two tries. also, there is a gap in the zoom where it loses its "center" and goes off course. zooming troubles bother me because seeing the details is supposed to be a big part of this game.

i don't know if it was mentioned, but a ship that is "leveling" up should be as is, but blink. a blinking icon will be hard to miss. even when the planet is not selected on the master bar on the left, the little block that represents it (or ships of its class) should still blink. so either the actual ship icon blinks or the smaller square block representation should blink. Also, when actually looking at the ship exploded cloeup view, it should blink in some way.

well, you have the ability to know when hostile ships are coming. What about given a game time (when we of course get a game time)?? If it says "enemy eta in 20 minutes" and you can summon a force strong enough to delay them in 18 minutes, or await a more powerful force (all being pulled from different systems) you can better decide what to do. Also, I do feel that the icon display for distance BETWEEN planets is fine, but one in orbit it seems like things should move a bit faster.

I think the computer has a distinct advantage when traveling into battle. It no doubt has the eta's clocked, but the player has no option to show the eta of a deployment.

1) I had a decent sized fleet. I had all of the the resource asteroids mined on my 5 systems. I don't know if scuttling a ship frees up its crystals or not, but maybe it should. At one point I lost my whole fleet in a battle. I wanted to build a new one, but I had too few crystals and I would have been an easy target for the least of the races. I took over a few planets prior to that, but their asteroids were spent. I gained very little. But I know of races that had twice as many ships as

In the beta, the other races go in and out of favor too quickly. happens in the real world too, but i agree with you I think they have improved the AI in every way quite a bit for the patch and for beta 3. They like to not tell us what they're doing so we can have some surprises, so I think you should wait till the end of next week (patch) or the middle of next month (beta 3) to ask taht question <br/

In the beta, the other races go in and out of favor too quickly. It doesn't seem real enough. It seems to me that IF you break an alliance, you should pay some type of penalty. Maybe, and it may already be this way, the other races frown upon those that break pacts?? Dunno. In the first game I played, one of the races I had a cease fire pact with kept asking me for help, but I was aligned with his enemy also. Perhaps he sensed that and broke the accord, but something needs to be tweaked I
