I agree factories should not need workforce. Simply a big NO. There is no excuse for that even for a game.

There is no single path for future this or that. Here are some questions collected over this week:
Planet construction/destruction : Any thoughts on being able to utterly destroy a planet, create one from the rubble left behind or make a uninhabitable planet habitable? I believe it would be neat to have the option to keep expanding or consolidate the space around you in the long game. Of course this would probably have to be a hefty production/special resource s

Are you playing the AI on one of the harder difficulty settings? I'm pretty sure that right now part of their bonus is that they get a huge stack of ships every so many turns. They usually show up at a rally point, so you can camp them and take them out as soon as they spawn.
In Avalon Hill's Third Reich (boardgame), naval fleets are modeled abstractly as factors, from 1 to 9, with a national combat bonus: England +2, Italy -3(?). Oddly, this enabled the Italians to flaunt their inferiority and swarm the Med with "naked" transport missions, ferrying land units from Europe to N.Africa. England's embattled fleets holed up in Med ports could intercept any one bait and surely sink it ... but then Ita

They said (paraphrased) "Thank you peregrine for compiling this list of questions." then (paraphrased) "We're going to answer chat questions first because they bothered to come here." Then they spent the whole time answering chat questions, answering only one forum question. So maybe it "worked out" for your Internet cred [e digicons]:P[/e] . Moral of the story? 1) The most important thing to me is the ability to keep good relations with another civ if you put in the work. In many 4X strategy games there comes a point that no matter how carefully you tended to your friends, they turn against you. Beyond that, I really like the ability to goad or bribe other Civs into war with each other. I also like the ideology system in Civ V BNW in terms of how it played into diplomacy. I found the idea of forming a bloc with co
Computer chess programs beat you by just being better at everything, seeing further, judging more accurately (and never getting tired). I dream of AIs that beat me because they just think deeper, plan better, and/or play the meta-game (of scouring the tech tree, game rules, etc. and creating new tactics and schemes) better. What would that even look like? Man, that'd be a fun research area.
It will b
Just to reiterate, invasion is fine in "age of war", I just think that you should have some option in first stage when a race doesn't respect your controlled area and plops a colony next to yours. Dropping stuff on their buildings and shooting missiles seems easy and hard to justify why this is a mid-game tech. Destruction is easy, conquest is hard. I got the prototype last week. I’m still pretty bad, but here are some initial impressions. 1) This is already a great game. This is so much more than I was expecting from a prototype. It feels like a complete game and it is fun. I was hesitant to join the founders because I am not a fan of traditional RTSs, but I decided that between Soren and Brad there are enough people I trust on this game that I went for it. I am so glad I did. 2)

Paul mentioned in a stream that the purple (pink to some) stars are supposed to have high-quality planets around them and be rare, but that hasn't been implemented yet. I don't think there is a differentiation between orange, red, white, and yellow.

After Paul talked a little about what trade routes will look like I had a couple of quick thoughts. 1) I would encourage the designers to think seriously about something similar to the Civ V BNW way of doing trade routes. For me, its the best thing about that expansion. It makes trade routes easy to change as the economic circumstances change, but not require too much micro. It also doesn't require you to actually fly your transport to the destination to establish the route.

The scenario that disallowing tech brokering avoids is this: I am the Terrans and I trade the Drengin tech A for tech B. I then go to each of the other 6 races and trade them tech B for another tech, meaning that for tech A I just received 7 techs. This is further comlicated by the fact that I can then go and trade tech A to the Iridian Corperation for Tech C, trade that tech around and get another 7 techs, rinse and repeat. Now, that literal situation is unlikely, but it shows how easy it is
And yet when I check the "last modified" dates of the files, I find a few dated 09/11/2014. These are files that can only be obtained via Steam, so something had to have changed between 9/2 and 9/11.
Is is range from a friendly planet, or starbase?
Yes that is it exactly.
What would cause the range to decrease in the game if I have the same planets and starbases and all of a sudden battleships that were in range are now out of range?
The longer a game goes before you are able to start your culture bomb in a given area, the more time it takes to flip. This could make for some VERY long and boring games, which is out of balance with the other victory conditions.
Except that you don't have to flip a single planet to win a culture victory. The culture victory conditions are to have x% of the galaxy inside your ZoI and don't be at war with anyone.
