Developers now lay off many employees after a game is released. This was not always the case. Is this change good? I would say no.
This actually happens a lot less now than before because of how digital distribution has made dlc and smaller expansions more viable.
It was about a changing development strategy which is still in its infancy and I do not think is in th

I know this has been said before, but things go on sale. I don't understand the outrage. Things have gone on sale for as long as there has been retail. Oh, and things go on sale on Steam all the time. Putting an item on sale is not an insult to people who already bought the product. Quite frankly it has nothing to do with people who already bought the game. If you looked at the game and decided it was worth the price they were asking, then stop worrying about the deals other

I'm pretty sure Stardock has no say as to when/if Steam puts their games on sale. EDIT: After doing a little research I am still not sure, but it appears that Steam sort of proposes sales and developers can choose to opt in or not. That being said, I'm not totally sure how selling their game at a discount translates to not caring about their customers.

How entitled are you? DLC too expensive? At a price cheaper than lunch at a fast food restaurant? If you don't think it's worth it don't buy it. And Stardock has used the proceeds from those sales to keep updating and improving LH for everyone, not just those who bought the DLC. There's no way we'd be at 1.8 with this game without the DLC. "Robbing their payers?" get off your high horse and think about the fact that skilled people had to do work to supply the player base w
5. Re Crafting vs. Finding. There seems to be a slight preference that works like this: I should be able to craft up to great things. But AMAZING things should only be findable and rare. Would this represent your view?
I think this makes sense, but maybe the very best items should be crafted from rare components that you have to quest for. As much as I like the idea of finding rare and powerful artifacts, going on quests the forge the epic s
4. Early game setup. One of the things I'd be interested in hearing from you guys on are "advanced setup" options for hard core players. Since I write the code that woul dhandle this, I would be delighted to put in interesting things here. So based on your hours in the game, what sorts of things would you want (besides Doomsday adjustments which I plan to handle through the magic slider).
2. Empire building. This is a really good discussion because really, that is the crux of the argument for the game: Is the game about your EMPIRE or about the Party of heroes you're putting together? I.e. where should the focus be.
I strongly feel that the focus should be on the champions. SK will not be as good an empire builder as LH or other traditonal 4Xs like Endless Legend. It will also not be as good a tactical combat 4x as AoW or others tha

Paul has said that the governors will be somewhat minimal because he doesn't want the game to play its self. I personally agree with this assessment. For me, colony management is such a huge chunk of the game that I would not want it automated. Also, no matter what you do, multi-player games on large maps are going to be drawn-out affairs to be played over a number of sessions.

I've been playing this game recently, I while I love most of what's happening with it I think it has very large pacing problems. Almost every game I play goes like this: My beginning army is very weak. I wander around collecting chests and exploring weak quest huts. My hero does a lot of the fighting and my starting support units and any soldiers I train die very easily. This continues until I get to the point (usually level 5 or so) where my champion starts to be able to solo most of
If you say "No" when the game asks you if you want to colonize the planet, you'll then have time to look at what planet it is and figure out what you might like for it, then move the ship to colonize the planet.
Another similar solution is to send your ships to one tile away from a planet rather than to the planet itself. They should make it clearer what planet you are colonizing, but this is a decent work-around.</p
The first issue I see is that modding a specific core race's tech tree (or worse all) will either make that mod inoperable with any other mod even if both simply add a new item to the tree & do not cause conflicts
Can you explain where the conflict is? I haven't tried modding GCIII yet, but I don't see why this modded race which uses the Terran tree wouldn't just use a modded Terran tree if y
Now, from what I have read, this is just about the worst abuse of a customer that could possibly happen. The entire game divided into 20 DLCs at day one? Yipes!!
Actually, I don't think this would bother the anti-dlc crowd that much because it's clear and consistent. Here is the thing that bothers many people: Say Stardock released the GalCiv III with the features we are expecting it to h
But I guess it's safe to assume, from the deafening silence of the devs, that this isn't going to ever be addressed?
Not safe to assume. Stardock devs tend to watch the community debate these issues rather than inserting themselves. I am sure they have read the thread and are aware of the issue. That doesn't mean they will change anything, but Stardock not commenting doesn't mean they are not cons

So "Neutral" is a tier one pragmatic ideology trait that prevents other civs from declaring war on you for 100 turns. First let me say as a player I like taking this trait. It gives you a giant chunk of time when you can invest in infrastructure without worrying about building up your military. That said I think it is unhealthy for the game. First, the very reason I love it is why it probably needs to go. To be able to focus on social building without any concern for military
The balance is the Yor tech tree's improvements to adjacency bonuses, along with their 20% production bonus, which makes them very good manufacturers with decent planning. First appearances can be deceiving - they aren't the slightest bit lacking in manufacturing capability.
- If you take all the manufacturing adjacency bonuses, you get a total of +5 levels to your factories, which gives them +25% manufacturing.
