Played several hours on Gateway with 5 AI Empire players and me as Alliance. This is the first time I played with any race besides Empire without expiriencing ANY minidumps (well, I had two while exiting the game...but who cares since I was done playing). The only difference between prior Alliance player games and this one, was that I DIDN'T build any MC80A capital ships. Oh, the Alliance also kicks the Empire's rear in terms of ship quality
Paradoxnt
I've had some minidumps occur while exiting the game as well.
Hi EvilleJedi, just listened to your interview at shift queue. Good job! If anybody else here wants to hear it it, it is at http://www.shiftqueuerts.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=84:shift-queue-rts-review-vi-return-of-the-qevillejediq&catid=35:news&Itemid=53 In this interview, EvilleJedi elaborates on his vision of Sins of a Galactic Empire. It is certainly worth a listening to. <p
??? Destiny14, oversensitive much..? HahnHolio was totally friendly and replied right away for you. There is no reason to take his last comment as an insult...he obviously meant it as 'hang in there and keep checking in for updates!'.
I'll send Sluggo and Thuggo down to Ion Bolt's house to have a 'talk' with him....that should do the trick!
As far as I can see, minidumps sometimes happen when I use a ship expirience point to select a new ability. Sometimes it happens when I go to use a ship ability. And sometimes it just happens....for no reason I can see. I should note that I am finding the Ion Bolt ability causes MORE than its fair share of minidumps....of course, it could just be me.
I tried a game with 'show debris' off and it didn't seem to help.
I only ONCE saw the AI trying to build an Executor Dreadnaught....but they were a long way from completion and I blew up their Capital Ship Factory. As it is, the AI WASTES so much time and $ on crap Victory Star Destroyers that are effectively about 1/5 or 1/6 the power of Imperator and Imperial SDs. The Vics usually last a few seconds once the fighting starts...poor things. Is it just me, or does the AI spam far too many weak ships.
I've noticed that there is an issue with the Solar Radiation ability. The ability is only supposed to recharge AM within a certain range....however, sometimes ships will leave that range BUT will STILL keep experiencing a recharge. It is like they are still in range, even though they they've left the zone. When researching the top tier Armor research, one of the benefits is MASS REDCUTION.....what exactly does this do? Does it make your ships turn/accelerate faster?<
Thanks Blair. Good to be back!
Any idea why the Empire is so much more stable than the other Star Wars factions?
Played a bunch of games on GATEWAY (no pirates there). I still got dumps with alliance/republic/CIS players.....not a single dump with only Empire players.
Any attempt to view a Mandator Dreadnaught crashes the game.
The SSD shields and hull recharge. Since the rate is the same, it just seems to take forever for those massive shields and hull values to go up.
Played the CIS for a couple of hours. I had about as many crashes as I did playing the Alliance. One crash occured when I selected a builder who was on a way to build something. I tried to tell it to build something else first and the game minidumped. Couple of issues with the CIS ships (besides many of the models not being fully done). Geonosian Dreadnaught : -would not bomb planets I selected as targets IF it had to travel to get i
1.16 here and I see all the maps.
Well, maybe with the new ship scale, it might be possible for a Death Star...but it would still be pretty awkward to move around and would have tons of pathfinding/collision issues.
Loved that game. You could make a mod of it for Sins very easily. Maybe even EvilleJedi might let you use his StarWars ships if you ask VERY NICELY...he is doing amazing work for Sins right now. The only thing that always struck me odd about Rebellion was the Death Star. When you used it, all the planets would rebel against you.......?!?!? You'd think it would be the opposite effect.
Played 3 hours of Alliance versus 5 other Empire races before I minidumped. I had all the other players as Empire since that faction seems to be rock solid stable. This way, being the only non Empire, I could be ~100% sure any minidumps would be something I personally did. GLITCH REPORTS: 1. What I think caused the minidump was when I tried to use the MC40 Cruiser's Ion Can
I've let the thing run all day on 8X with an Empire only game....came home and everything was fine. Now I'll do the same with an Empire versus vanilla races game. My system is a: Intel Core Quad Q6600 Velociraptor X2 in RAID 0 config 8 Gigs DDR2 1066 ATI Radeon 4870 1 gig P5B-Plus MB Creative Labs FX 22" 2ms widescreen LG LCD running at 1680X1050 Microsoft Habu RAZOR mouse
A couple of sugestions: 1. It might be better to disallow AntiMatter regeneration during combat. It would help reduce the severity of deadlocks. 2. The different ships should have their individual official speeds and turn rates. As it is, it seems like most ships of the same class have the same speed.
I forgot to say that I love the new ship sizes. They now feel like they actually belong in the game engine. Even the massive Executor Class Dreadnaught didn't feel particularly awkward (that is a night/day improvement from before). Also, at this new size, the ships look much more natural and 'realistic' next to planets and asteroids. Finally, I hope you stick with the new moderately-large gravity wells. The gravity wells aren't so huge as to be kludgy, but ar
Played an all Empire players game for several hours without a single minidump.
Seems I get minidumps even when I don't click on stuff. I am going to try a medium map without any original races and without the Alliance to see what happens.
Hmmm, so a Death Star that would kill planets with one shot (regardless of planet type/levels/shields). The torpedo sphere goes a long ways to covering this already. Also, how would this Death Star work against ships and defenses? Would it be uber powerful against everything? Would it's power be reflected in its purchase cost, build time and fleet point usage? Would it be weak against bombers/fighters (would mean dedicating a single armor type for this thing in
