There certainly seems like fewer bonuses than compared to DL but I am finding them on all sorts of worlds, I never played DA prepatch so I couldn't comment on DA prepatch. I did run across an AI world recently that had 700% research, 300% and 100% manu tiles. I was not impressed, no wonder they were doing so well on technology. And they would have been the last race I targetted as well. On a related note I tried the third in the DA campaign (you and the Korath against 3 or 4 other races

It seems tech stealing by spies has nothing to do with your current espionage levels on a AI, inspite of the flavour text. I was at war with the Drengin over the weekend and over a long period of time I finally managed to get up to advanced levels of espionage but my spies never stole a tech once. Having finished the Drengin off I moved onto the Korx and dumped my 4 surviving spies on them. The next turn they had managed to steal a Korx weapons tech. Several turns later they managed to steal ano

A weird little event occurred in my latest game, the first DA game I've played that had an minor races in it. I've recruited several spies and not deployed any. I attempted to stick one on a minor race and was told off by the computer. A couple of turns later the game announced that my spies had collaborated with that minor race and the minor race had stolen all the tech from a neighbouring AI, there was even a piece of footage of a shuttle heading towards a planet. The text also said that the m

Hiya, using DA 1.50X (as far as I know) I discovered that when you open the planet/ship location submenu (first icon on left of main UI) and left click on a planetary improvement it brings up a window of the improvement currently being built. However it always returns a effect bonus of 1%. It doesn't matter whether you are building a basic factory or (in my case) the Tir Academy, they all claimed to give only a bonus to the relevant attribute of 1%. They report different build times, just an inc

Miner points I don't think the space miner 'automate' function works too well. Miners shouldn't be able to target asteroids you haven't found yet, it makes no sense, constructors won't hunt down resources for you so why should miners. Maybe change the automate/upgrade function to only work within a small area, or at least only areas you've uncovered. Change ship priority to 'upgrade' not 'automate',

No definite idea since I've not noticed a lack of save files in my version, just a few suggestions. You say you looked in the DA folder, obviously if some of the files you are looking for were from DL they should be held elsewhere. The quicksave and autosave files are limited, you should only ever have one non-campaign autosave and a previous autosave file, it appears to automatically transfer and overwrite. Same seems true for quicksave files. Have you patched recently, maybe older

Just wondering, what decides whether you get the combat viewer version of a battle versus the old overhead GC1-like representation of a battle ? I can reliably get the combat viewer version if I'm using a one on one with anything except a mini-freighter (one that is in an established route). However, the only time I'm received the combat viewer when using two or more ships in a fleet was when I attacked a planet's orbiting ships. And that only happened once they built an orbital fleet manager. I

I just tried that in DA v1.5x (apparently) and although my survey ship got at least 3 messages about getting ships' logs and 'will be much more lethal once upgraded' it was still a level 0 ship with no experience once I upgraded it. Had I gone overboard by giving it 5 x laser V thus reducing the apparent experience ?

One downside to mining stations is that you can't speed up mining station upgrading at all. It takes 10 weeks to upgrade a single mining station to level 2 alone whereas factory construction can be sped up by focus or buying outright. I assume you can't get double upgrade speed by using two mining modules on a ship since trade and construction modules don't have multiple effects either. Annoyingly if you automate miner ships they seem to priorise building new stations, even if that means travell

Thanks for the swift replies, I guess I was just lucky that I had a Yor-friendly and a Torian unfriendly galaxy. I suppose it doesn't matter about the meteor strike event, I imagine there is no way to prevent it so no point in worrying I just wondered whether some other civ suddenly lost a planet without warning. Gulp

Just installed DA yesterday and was running my first game last night. On a small galaxy with five other civs. I think I left mega-events on out of curiosity. I haven't been playing for long but I've already had notifications of two planets destroyed by meteor/asteroid hits. There aren't a huge number of habitable planets on the map so my question is this, are the planets destroyed only ever PQ 0 planets or could the game randomly pick an inhabited world ? Secondly, is PQ based on your a

I liked the DL system, slowly spend money on espionage and get increasing amounts of information on other civs. It made sense, barring that it didn't take an awful lot of money to get advanced intelligence information and that you couldn't spy on the minor races. I just installed DA yesterday and I am confused by the new spy system. I understand that I can place my spies on other civs structures to stop them but I don't see how I get the different levels of intelligence that someone mentioned up

First time poster here so hope the formatting isn't messed up or that I'm not posting in the wrong place. Firstly background, I got GCI and GCII DL from my local UK games store and have happily played them offline ever since. I have an online work PC and an offline home PC. I never patched GC1 nor DL because I thought that you couldn't use unpatched game saves or campaign progress once patched. 1) Is this true or can I patch and then continue on with campaign where I left off ?

Yup, it's an experience level counter of sorts. It increases as a ship survives combat. It seems that the amount of experience gained is based on the ease of the combat. I've had medium hulled ships apparently getting no experience killing unarmed enemies and tiny fighters getting loads. The more powerful your ship is (possibly determined by cost) the harder it is to get experience it would appear. I suspect this by seeing the experience gauge falling when I upgraded some fighters. The primary b
