Well, I've been reading this for a while and have managed to hold off on commenting. Here's what I don't get (and welcome those to clue me in:)): Davad70 is a pretty hefty contributor to this site - I didn't actually find the exact number but there were quite a few. I read that he's not happy with the fact that, as a regular contributor, he's not getting the skinbrowser, exclusing suites, etc. that a WC subscriber is getting. Now, I'm not a skinner here (a previous topic somewhere has m

Nope, still no go. Must be something Rogers has done to their DNS lookup table. Grrr >
yep, using the www. I've got it bookmarked so nothing changed. Still getting the server/DNS error. Does anyone have the actual IP address for neowin so that I can try that way?
hmm...very strange. I keep getting a DNS error. Methinks Rogers have screwed around with their tables then...
Hey all, does anyone know where Neowin went this weekend? I don't recall seeing any message to the effect of them moving a server or the likes. Anyone know more than me??? (ooh boy, I've opened the flood gates on that one ) <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by SkinB
Yep, I love it too! Woo Hoo!
chichgirl46 - It would take a lot more than your comments to offend me I think here would be a good time to mention that I have nothing to do with Stardock other than being a fan of their products. I don't think I've ever ran across Brad or anyone else in any official capacity calling the users leeches - that's just me calling SOME of them that. Again, I will re-iterate, that NO ONE has mentioned exa
brindlethedog - Nope, no mistake. I have the artistic talent of a rock. (unless someone wanted a theme based on stick-figures - then I'm your man! ) By participating I don't necessarily mean just making skins. As has also been discussed many times before - this is a community. While I haven't been terribly active lately (due to time constraints) I was a rather active poster not too long ago, helping out wher
Where does it say that the ONLY way to d/l from here will be by paying $19.95??? No where! The only thing it says it says is: "Not only will users get the skin browser but unlimited downloads, exclusive skin packs, and some surprises we're working on that won't be available until later." This doesn't appear to me that WC will start charging for access. It does, however, imply that non-paying members will have some type of restriciton on their d/ls. Frankly, I don't blame them. You'
had to pop in and post a quick message just so Elfkura's wish would go on: not to lapse for more than 2 hours! I have to agree with you Brad, my laptop is always on when I'm home and 99% of the time connected.
There was one other game: Baldur's Gate. It shipped first on the five CDs and then was available later on one DVD (unfortunately they DIDN'T include Tales of the Sword Coast with it). What I'd like to see is some of these companies that have put out multiple games (eg. BG & BGII, Quake Series, etc.) release all the versions on one DVD. Offer up BG, BG: Tales of the Sword Coast, BG2 & BG2: Throne of Bhaal all on one DVD. (I *think* they'd all fit) It wouldn't work for the die hard player
Here's what I do with mine. I have three text links on my desktop that take me to my three webpages I look after. The states I have set are Mouse Away and Mouse Over. For Mouse Away I just have Alpha-Blending set a Uniform 0% and for Mouse Over Alpha-Blending is set to none. It would also work this way for graphic images as well (as I have a bunch of these at 50% and 100%)
hehe, you know what's funny paxx? I did the exact same thing and found this page but then saw that it was directed towards AIM icons. Guess I didn't read far enough to see that they could be used for XP user icons too. I think, just from the look of the site, this is the one that was used on the show. Thanks!
Yep, got that part already adni, thanks. What I'm looking for is the site mentioned on the show that supposedly has thousands of icons. The more I think about it the more I recall it being Pirillo talking about it so it must have been CFH.
Hey all, quick question. I was watching either Call For Help or TSS on Tech TV today or yesterday and there was reference made to a supposedly wicked site for grabbing XP User Icons. Does anyone know of this site? Or remember what it was called from the show? I tried checking the show notes but couldn't find reference to the site itself - just how to change the icons...Thanks.
Wow, that was a long thread to read to get to the bottom. All in one day. Anyhoo, my take on the whole WinStyles thing is this: (and it was mentioned by someone else waaaaayyyy up near the top but I can't remember who) I'll probably use it to set up various themes on my computer that work well together that I like. That way I can switch between them rapidly. Will I ever upload any of these? Nope. F
they have a bunch of boot screens available for d/l over at http://www.xpthemes.org They also describe how to go about changing them. Nothing quite so simple as the welcome screen changes yet though.
Paxx - the only reason it's so little is because practically no one outside the manufacturers actually buy the OS! Lancer (I'm almost regretting this already) - Atari was impressive. Yep. The Jaguar was by far the most advanced game system available. (IMO, it blows the doors off of PSX and N64 as well as giving PS2 a run for it's money!) The company's failure? Marketing! For the Jag they devoted a wh
One thing I want to point out regarding ICQ: The newest versions have vastly improved on GDI usage. I just checked and it's at 538. This is with 2001b (not sure which build). I remember with 2000b (or whatever they called it) it was 1200+! But I did kill the SVCHost that was running way high (11000+ I think) and my system didn't go poof.
Brad, not sure if you've read my comment on the actual skin itself so I'll repost here. I think there's a slight bug in the HF skin. The program icon is overlapping the roll-up icon. If I remember correctly, with Liquid2, the program icon was centered with the rest of the text.
Brad needs a pen name...Let's see...Richard Bachman, nope, taken, John Sandford, er...nope, taken as well...hmmm... Maybe that can be the next big contest: Find Brad a pen name. Of course, the winner could never be announced as then everyone would know immediately that the new name is really Brad
hehe, that's a good one JayG, paid a $100+ for XP....hehe I'll be laughing about that tomorrow still
Yes, it does move noticeably faster now! YAY YAY YAY!!!
My take on the whole thing is let them rant. We all know which of the two is the more full featured program. If all these people want to do is change the colors of their XP, by all means that's pretty much all they need is StyleXP with the DLL. I guess it ultimately boils down to each their own. There's nothing that we can say or do that will make some of them change their minds and there's nothing they can say or do that'll make us change our minds. As for the rip, that just d
I'm eagerly awaiting Harry Potter first and foremost. Following that is definitely LOTR however I am a bit dismayed by, as far as I can tell so far, the eye-candy part "created" for Liv Tyler. (Whose character name, I confess, I can't remember - it's been at least a decade since I read LOTR)
