I had this selfsame problem on 1.80g100, so I changed the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\Version to 1.70 and then updated via SDC, then rebooted. Works fine now.
I recently installed DA on my laptop, it was reporting the version as 1.80g100 - a fresh full install. I was getting the destination problem. What I did was go into the registry and change the DA version to 1.70 and update the game via SDC, and after rebooting I was happily pummeling the Korx into submission again. I just purchased the game through the online store, but now I'm just getting an error when trying to download http://sdc.stardock.com/sdcentral_setup.exe : Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at sdc.stardock.com. Is the sdc server not up? I tried ping to sdc.stardock.com and it seems to be working, just the web server isn't up and not letting me download. Thanks in advance.
