I'm using Firefox and I don't see anything of that nature at all. This forum is under "Home->Stardock Software->Windowblinds".

Really looking forward to this! Had enough of the default look of Windows 8 already.
I actually don't believe that, I think that as time goes on tablets will get closer and closer in power to laptops, and having an OS that can do both jobs, along with things like detachable keyboards etc will make more and more sense. I think Microsoft have taken some miss-steps in how they have tried to marry both types of UI but with a few tweaks Windows 8 becomes a very usable and very versatile OS for either kind of PC.
Oh yes not to bash the tiles too much, they are great on tablet, plus, if you buy a game for your Windows tablet or Windows RT tablet, you automatically get to play it on your PC too, I can see the advantages in that as I only game on a touch only device if there's no alternative!
I can't personally see how anyone can regard the "Modern" UI as anything but a huge backwards step for a desktop PC or even a laptop, fortunately thanks to Start8 you don't see it at all, and you can enjoy the other benefits of Windows 8 without the silly tiles. Once we have Windowblinds and one or two other programs fixed Windows 8 will be the best version, it's still not that big a leap over 7 but there's nothing to 'fear' thanks to Start8 :)
Thanks for the tips very helpful especially number 2 above, I'd still like a quick copy or move to page option but at least I can work around it now.
Can't seem to find any info on MyColors any more, has it officially been discontinued and merged with Windowblinds?
Yes that would be acceptable, or just have a UAC prompt for each new installation, or just make the program ask for admin via UAC when it starts.
1) Folder portals are OK, but a sub-fence would be better, you can't store a folder portal inside another fence. Fair enough if nobody else wants it I guess! 2) It's extremely awkward finding the correct spot with the mouse, half the time I end up picking up a window on the other monitor or something like that, a little push button that I could just press to flip back and forth between pages would be better. 3) I don't understand how I can drag a fence to another p
Have been using Fences since it first came out and I am probably going to keep using it even when Windows 8 is here, For version 2 I have a couple of feature suggestions though:- 1) Sub-fences, like sub-folders so that I could click on an icon and have another fence open up with more icons inside. 2) Page changing is quite awkward with the mouse on a dual or triple monitor setup, can we have a shortcut button? I've enough of awkward mouse gestures with Windows 8, Yes I kno
I'm getting the see-through text thing on my rig too, when using either Precision and Sublime skins. P.S. Where do I post general feedback/feature requests?
When using Fences 2 and certain Windowblinds skins, the text on the fences screen becomes transparent! Making it really weird to read, here's an example:- See how you can see through the text?! Happens on Precision and Sublime skins, but not on standard Aero. I'm on Windows 7 x64 with an Nvidia GTX 580 card.
Great more stuff that insists on going in the C drive, just as more of us are adding smaller capacity solid state drives as our boot drives. Don't really see why it has to go there personally, Impulse, Steam etc all can install wherever you want. Nope, nothing in the download folder, it's as I said, if you don't run SD Central as admin it just doesn't work. Hopefully this will be fixed at least to the extent that the user is notified anyway.
Take back what I said about Classic Shell, I've just seen the new Start8, fantastic, now if Windowblinds supports Windows 8 and that, there's no reason to worry :)
Personally I'd love it if Stardock started supporting the ClassicShell start menu replacement in Windowblinds for Windows 8 users. I don't hate Metro at all but I just don't find it useful or flexible enough on the desktop and my PC use I'm 99% of the time on my desktop. (Yes I know there's Start8 that's a good alternative too but Classic Shell is much closer to the Windows 7 Start Menus)
I suspect Windowblinds, once updated for Windows 8, will rectify that problem.
Thanks, I trust this install directory will be selectable in the final version? Anyway as I suspected it needs running as Administrator else it just sits there doing nothing when you click to install. Forgivable for beta software but hope that gets fixed.
Yeah that made no difference, is it because I don't run my regular user account as admin perhaps? Where does Stardock Central install to? the installer doesn't give you a choice of where to put it.
Downloaded and installed ok, but the installer didn't make me any icons for some reason, and not sure which directory it's installed to. SD Central starts, finds updates to Windowblinds and WindowFX, but clicking the download button does nothing. I'm on Windows 7 x64.
Thanks for the tip guys, I had no idea there was a new Stardock Central.
Why Microsoft haven't included this functionality in Windows 8 already is a real mystery, so thanks Stardock! Just a couple of bugs I noticed:- 1) Opening the Start Menu, on the right hand side under Apps, Settings and Files, the icons below these cannot be clicked. 2) Using the scroll bar to scroll along, sometimes the scroll controller just randomly disappears Other than that it's exactly what I wanted, a way to quicky work with the Metro Start screen
Can anyone tell me why Gamestop/Impulse is telling me my Object Desktop subscription has expired even though I've renewed it? This is very frustrating! I know Stardock has sold Impulse to gamestop but it's still a convenient way to manage software rather than logging into Stardock and downloading everything manually. Can anyone help? I have tried updating the serial number in Impulse/Gamestop but it still say the wrong expiry date. Is Object Desktop not supported in Impulse an
Little follow up on this, I actually switched my libraries back to the default, and lo and behold the dreaded UAC not working problem came back again. I was never really satisfied with the resolution to this in the first place, so I set about prodding into the system with Process Monitor etc and sure enough something was still looking on D:, where the old default public library used to be. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I poked in the registry and found this key:- HKEY_LOC
The 'new default location' created has clearly affected permissions on the original directory locations to the point that other proggies and functions were upset.
I doubt its permissions, possibly there's a NTFS symbolic link or junction that's got screwed up. I'm not 100% on how libraries work at the file system level. Clearly /something/ happened else I would not have had this issue in the first place. I think for now I'll leave the sys
I did initially suspect permissions myself but I tested that Administrator had full read/write access to %public%\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds by opening an elevated command prompt and then creating a file within that folder.
Perhaps it's HOW you added it...or even WHEN...as in after installing WB but before adding some skins...or vice-versa.
Perhaps we'll never know, Windows is a complex operating system after all. Frankly though I'm puzzled at p
