Hmm, I by far am no expert to the game, but in my limited mind the solution for this seems to be quite easy: assuming IS and NLCs increase the industry and research output by ~25% each and you run into financial problems because of it, wouldn't the easiest solution be to simply turn the global spending slider to 80%? By this the running cost (and industrial and reaearch output) would be the same as if you hadn't built the upgrades. if you later manage to improve your economy you could st

well, everybody has a different taste i guess. I for my part think it's absolutely great that the game has nice graphics as well. sometime I just look at the rotating planets withthe icepols and stuff and I really like it. oh yeah and I also like my ships which i design for maximum ugliness
I tend to specialize most of my planets, but keep some "balanced". I find the economical capital to be an especially precious one. for that I use a "decent world" (the higher quality the better), which doesn't have especially major research bonus tiles to it. If it got 1 or 2 100% production bonus tiles, that doesn't hurt. what i really love on such a world are morale bonus tiles, because that allows you to make a perfect use of morale-rising buildings which is perfect for the matter. also an ag
well, I'm having my first serious game now, where the AIs proove to be a decent challenge (at "tough") and in my first skirmishes with the drengin the tiny ships proved to be a lifesaver. at first I had a technological edge, while the drengins had massive firepower. drengins used massdrivers only, I was quite set to beamweapons. I had a couple of tiny ships (3x2 beam damage, no engines) quite a few small ships (3-4 beam damage, 2x warpdrives) and was just staring to build medium
(didn't read all replies so maybe somebody said so already) I want to build Doomstars and blow planets up. Cool graphics for that were nice too. Oh yeah and sort of a new race were cool. maybe some insectoid race? Or a race that actually lives in space? Then instead of a Doomstar a LEXX-like ship, of course also able to blow up planets. actually, just blowing up planets is what I care about <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.gif" border=0 align="absmidd
reading this thread let's me not look forward to first time playing GCII DA this evening instead of DL 1.4 so far... but then, it was also almost impossible to get weapon techs from the AI in DL, so I guess I gotta see ...
I'm quite new to the game (1 week) and played 2-3 normal games which I won easily, so I'm going up with the difficulty slowly to see how the AI develops. My strategy which seems to work well at least up to "challenging" (or whatever the difficulty above normal is called in english): At the start I cheat a little, I admit that. I start the game until I get a 300% production bonus tile on my homeworld and I have some stars in the neighbouring sectors. I then buy the fir
ah thanks, well that was really somewhat hard to find
thanks for the nice welcome and let me use this thread for a question right away. I'm sure, I'm just not seeing the obvious, but: how do I register the game? I admit I rarely register games/software, only if absolutely necessary, but for this game it's probably worth it and I do need it. I installed it, downloaded the patch etc and it's working fine, but: in German -and after the
Hiya, A week ago or so I bought GalCivII more by chance than on purpose. But the last week has (to some extend ) changed my life. For many many years MOO2 was THE strategy game for me, nothing came even close to it. I then followed the progress on GalCiv1 for some time and got it when it came out. I was severly disappointed by it and after this experience didn't put much hope into Gal
