Windows 7 will be in public beta stage.
to be honest i would rather have microsoft take thier time with the new OS and make sure when it's set for public release it doesn't have a zillion and one bugs even if it takes like (it may sound stupid) 4 or 5 years...plus i wonder what it will look like...hopefully it will have vista ultimate's task bar, start globe and start menu...or atleast the task bar and start globe...

just for the sake of asking, are you running windows defender? if so disable it in the msconfig.exe...last time i tried to install windowblinds on my old xp system the windows defender alway blocked it for some reason.

ok this maybe a stupid question but, can you boot into safe mode or will it continue to give you the boot error? IF it does allow you to boot into safe mode (fit F8 before it shows the windows boot screen..if you get it to late then just hit your reset button this will interupt the boot strap and it should ask you a few options, one will say safe mode)after getting into safe mode (hopefully you can) go to your control panel and choose "programs and features" and try to uninstall the boot program
Laptops aren't non-upgradeable, but yes they are more limited in terms of what you can upgrade. You can add a bigger/extra harddrive, more ram, should even be able to add a graphics card, but it is more specialized in regards to the laptop hardware and cost.
i didn't say they were non-upgradeable...i just said they were limited to things lik the cpu, mem,HDD and optical drives oh and floppy drive (if it has one..but then again these days they are obsolete).you can also upgrade

i don't think microsoft is gonna release a OS that fast since vista was only released almost a year ago...i would much rather have them fully debug the hell out of the new OS before sending it out on store shelves LOL last thing we need is more headaches...hopefully they will be a 64 bit of the new OS...32 bit blows big time...the whole time running vista ultimate x64 i've rarely had any problems with it...

but then again people must realize is that when ANY new OS comes out which includes and does not exclude windows, linux, unix, solaris ETC some people will like it some will not...the reason being is the new OS has more features and a completely different look plus it's got more security features some people will like these feature some will not, some people will love those features some will not.XP got good when SP1 was released and got greater when SP2 was released.vista is going to be the same w

Never used Windows ME be glad you didn't..ME was THEE biggest POS OS's you will ever have..i ran that for around 10 months and let me tell ya it was one of THEE most biggest, hugest piece of shite OS's you will ever run...constant BSOD's,constant screw ups, constant lock up's ETC i had to litterally nuke the drive once and sometimes twice a week...it was that bad...and the only thing i used to do on it,was play video games...98 was millions of times better
