Just an update on this game, still going, work and real life getting in the way of more important things like dominating the galaxy, so haven't gotten that much further on than my original post (turn 412), but.... I'm still weak relative to the most powerful races, but I'm no longer last (6th of the 10 majors), and I no longer feel doomed; it's still going to take awhile, but I will win this game. Huh, that is weird. I always get it to come up, eventually, can take awhile in immense galaxies, but doesn't even need me to have met all majors for it to take place. Not at my gaming PC at the moment, and can't recall from memory, but is 'enable United Planets' an option in game set up? Don't recall having seen it, and think that it is in all games by default, but have been wrong plenty of times before!

I played Gal Civ II a lot, and loved it, but having now played Gal Civ III I can't imagine ever going back to Gal Civ II. III is not perfect by any means, but is constantly improving with each patch and DLC, and I suspect that when the expansion comes out I will have no life outside the game at all! And I hope that whatever espionage they come up with for III is light years ahead of what was in II, where it was just cheesy and time consuming without adding any real gamepla

Having a blast playing this after a long time away. I played a few games with the AI set to gifted, and found that pretty comfortable, so I figured I'd step it up to Genius. Alpha Centauri and MOOII; only games I still go back to that are WAY old and (should be) obsolete by now; something about the whole character & experience of both games, plus the satisfaction of beating an AI that just flat out cheats (MOOII), and smacking the planet/enviroment itself in AC - how ya liking my carbon footprint now, mindworms!

I've got a huge complaint about this mod; it's just too damn good! I set up an immense galaxy, abundant everything (I like my games long and epic...) with difficulty set to Painful, and it produced the best balanced game I've ever had BUT, as we got into a very intriguing mid-game, with all races (9) plus 4 minors still active, the length of time between each push of the turn button grew and grew until my pretty new and nicely spec'd PC just couldn't take it no more and fr
