Is there a way to save or transfer ship designs? I spent several hours the other day creating this great new ship design, only to realize it was based around the cargo hull... I used the tiny block to start with (either from the collector's edition or DA) so that I would have the maximum amount of choices for the hull, so you'd think it was easy to make it say, a large hull, or whichever other hull type. If I can't change the hull type, is there any way to keep the design for future gam

And to answer your question about which weapons and armor, I might sugest building a primary and secondary weapon set. If you can afford it, take the main one up fairly high (as high as you feel comfortable) and another maybe half as high just in case. The computer does use defense sometimes but it's very unlikely they will use two different kinds. Choosing two of the three weapon types will keep you a little more versitile when facing more than one opponent. I've found that even a small amount

Either speaking statistically or for flavor, what are your favorite abilities to choose for your custom races? Mine would have to be Industrious with maxed research and at least +1 flight speed. I just can't seem to justify exploring the galaxy if my ships are of average speed. Plus, I love the ships, I can't get enough. I build one for every situation, so I always try to pick up +1 - +5 in ship building. I don't really have flavorful reasons for choosing those, but I do

Hmmm, I often wonder the same thing. With the ability to upgrade your ships, you can easily pump out some fleets of tiny ships that are quite viable at repelling average forces. Plus, the earlier you get some ships, the sooner you can do battle with them and gain exp for your ships. I remember having several instances where the older, outdated ships would out-perform my newer crews simply from experience. I think we all tend to suffer from the (one more turn) syndrome and that includes

Ricree, I think you're on to something beautiful! I believe you can take complete control of the computer using a debugger, or debug mode. I have absolutely no idea how to access that, but one of the lead creators used it in a video to test AI by pitting AI against itself and watching the results. That would be as close to Hotseat as possible and doesn't even require mods. I know Dark Avatar is getting great reviews, and I can personally say that it's worth it for the ship design change
