What sort of defensive weapons are you thinking about? I can't come up with any, really. It seems to me that most defensive structures and whatnot require investment ahead of time. Unless, of course, you're thinking about nuking your own planet to kill invaders, which, doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. Blow up your own people and I don't really think they would want you ruling anymore.

If you want the icons to show up below your posts you need to log in to the Metaverse, then go to the pull down menu for "Account" and click on "Edit My Characters". On the right hand side there will be a greyed out button saying Default. Click on that and you'll have these wonderful icons following you around the forum. Anyway, welcome and good luck!
Uwe Boll all the way!!! The man's a genius! Actually, Gore Verbinski isn't on my good list either, so . . .
They're developing one for the expansion. They have a backstory and everything, they just didn't implement it for the release. Why? Time, probably.
I frequent 1up and GameTrailers (though, really, GT is only good for the vids).
I'm running Vista and nothing TA related showed up anywhere. I had to create my own shortcut. And I had it installed during beta, where I had no icons or start menu stuff. Anyway, on topic, I thought this was a good review. I think the reviews will pretty be the same from here on out: no multiplayer, Ascension and Terror Stars are somewhat arbitrary, but otherwise awesome.
Also is it possible to make constructors on small hulls?
Yes, if you research miniaturization twice. (He stated that, look again) ----------- I actually agree with the op about starbases, but I think that they play a huge role in the game if used correctly, they're just not my ideal way of building and implementing them. I think the idea of having the starbases and ships situated in them helping out fleets in close proximity when attacked is a g
Yep, Frogboy has mentioned a couple of times that it's 2010. 2009 will bring us Demigod, though, which I'm totally stoked about now that Stardock is involved.
"I'm disappointed that someone like TGE would even start such a thread, the only purpose of which is the basest level of trolling." To be fair, he is 16. Iron Ghost: Thank you. I'm so using that.
If someone successfully capitalizes like I suggest, the mod tools are likely VASTLY IMPROVE as companies realize there's money to be made that way!
Mod tools are a way to help create a community that will increase the longevity of a game along with helping support a fanbase for further games. Creative Assembly have explicitly stated this as being a part of their business model . . . and, frankly, the Total War games are better off because of it.
GameX is Demigod.
Good. I was hoping it was. My thoughts on the subscriptions aspect are that most people won't want to do it . . . at first. Maybe once it becomes established, then the knee-jerk reaction will go away. I have no issue with an optional subscription update system provided that critical patches still come out to fix bugs and major issues. But if what you're really talking about is a loooooooong term commitment, I don't think sub
I never got into X3. Looks like I'll be picking it up when this expansion comes out. Time to dust off the flight stick and throttle. Hell, maybe I'll just install Freespace 2. Etrius: No, I hadn't heard that part, but I'm stoked that GPG is publishing through Stardock. Demigod looks to be interesting. Moreso than SupCom was at least.
I'd say cut your teeth on DA and skip DL. The changes in DA make the game play so much better. Enjoy!
Ugh. Dp. Sorry.
This is crap. This game is crap. Every time you update the game, I suddenly suck at it. That's your fault and you need to fix it. Kidding. I'm glad this game continues to evolve. I'm especially glad the Illuminators have a point now. I'll take them of of my personal mod now. Thanks!
Hangers are super important. I have at least three at my choke points with at least one repair center platform. What I like about squads is that even if their base (ship or hangar) dies, they can still continue to fight on until they too die. Bombers have cap ship damage (I believe) and are great for taking out cap ships (I know). Fighters take out bombers.
TEC or Vasari. Pick one and stick with it for a while. The Advent, imho, take a little more know how about the game before you can utilize their specialties appropriately. For multiplayer, use whatever you are best as.
Crispy Gamer has a review up. They don't give out scores but instead rate it as Buy It, Rent it, and Fry It. Sins was a Buy It. [link="http://www.crispygamer.com/_GeneratedPages/GameReviews/Review109.aspx"]http://www.crispygamer.com/_GeneratedPages/GameReviews/Review109.aspx[/link]
Nvm, too many threads open.
Do not get a 256 card even if you plan on getting another eventually. It's a waste of money, imho. You pretty much need 512mb anymore, though that is highly dependent on what resolution you are running your rig at. Does that really say SILENT? Meaning it doesn't have a fan on it? Hmmm, probably not the greatest idea, but . . . And if you still have tome, I highly HIGHLY recommend getting one of the new Seagate Barracudas that have 32mb cache. They run almost as fast as the Rap
Not for the in-game background music. However the Collector's CD (and the MP3 version) should include tagging already.
When I ripped mine it just came up with Track 1, etc. (That could be a database issue, i.e. the database it was pulling album info from didn't have the track titles. In fact, it didn't have a title for the cd at all)
There is a story. A great story at that. did you pay attention to the opening cinematic/ It explains everything. what is not told is the fate of these empires. that is for you to decide.
Yeah, pretty hard to say there is no story. I think what you really want is a campaign that hand feeds you bits and bits of a continuing story. I actually think a campaign is a good idea, but with the length of some of these maps (and the multitude of things that can happ
Oh, that's most assuredly a Dune reference. I don't see how it couldn't be. Was the planet perchance name Arrakis? lol
Diversity. That's my suggestion. The answers to your questions have too many variables. First and foremost, what race are you playing? Then comes, what size map, single player or multi, what's the ai's race and so on. Too many variables. Really, the best suggestion is to just play. I started on easy and had a pretty easy go of the game. Normal presented a bit more of a challenge, but not on small maps. I moved to larger maps and the ai tends to destroy me even on normal (I hate
Oh, and I rarely defend my homeworld. I find choke points and defend them. My homeworld only get a couple of defenses and I upgrade it later in game when I have the extra money. Your homeworld should be tucked away nice and safe while your outer planets get to take the brunt of any attack.
