A quick question to anyone else who has had experience playing as the Arceans a few times. Are they considered a warlike, conquering race by the other civilizations? It states they are neutral, honorable, and an old race, but I do realize they are "Super Warrior" and they do have weapon/soldiering bonuses. So what is interesting is that the FIRST time I invade someone or a even a minor, I get the "Arcean threat has grown too great, the war has expanded" crap. Ive played the

I noticed you said you turn up military spending at the start and then buy a colony ship when it is almost complete. That might be too slow as someone mentioned earlier. You most likely will need to rush buy a few colonizers, and would be better off with that slider being higher on the research than the military. After the first 2 or 3 colony ships, you can leave the slider higher on research and just have your capital thats making your ships focus on military.

Just keep the trade route bonus for distance what it would be as if it was the "shortest path possible". If you make it longer to keep it out of enemy territory, so be it, you wouldnt get a bonus for it being longer, it would just be a bit more safe.

What if they introduced in the tech tree line of Logistics where your navy earns an increasing bonus while in a fleet. So instead of simply being able to add more ships in a fleet, they actually get a bonus also. So researching 4 or 5 levels of logistics would let you put 15 small ships in a fleet, BUT, even if you just grouped 2 or 3, they would have an advantage over another fleet of the same size if the enemy logistics was only at level 1 or 2. Wasnt there something s

If the league thing works out, we should push for a new medal to be added to your sig. So along with 1st place empire or whatever, you could have a 1st or 2nd place tourney medal. Which you could defend, and keep or lose, at the next tournament.

Referring back to one of the original questions about whether logistics is needed, it has already been said you need it for unlocking range, and of course hulls, also. But about the only other thing I research it for is to fleet up my transports. Early game when basic transports = 1000 troops and 5 logistic points, I will research up to tier 2 so I can fleet 3 transports together. Unless the AI has none or very little soldiering, I hate invading with one transport because you generally have t

Ive tried it before, if you're doing it during the rush phase, you have to consider the tradeoff of the extra cost of making the ship slowing down your ability to grab the planet before another race. I would rather make a seperate troop transport and "ferry" people over at a later time, and still retain the transport to use later when I want to invade something.

Other than reaching the destination planet faster on the maiden voyage for a freighter, does engine speed help at all? Do you earn money faster with a custom freighter decked out with engines?

It seems to me that the "evil" option is always more benefical , also. To some degree that makes sense, as exploitation of others = greater benefit to you. What I would like to see is not only the continuation of random events but that they can affect you after researching xeno ethics, and could be tailor made to whatever you choose. Example: You are the Yor, you research Ethics, you align with Evil. Now, at the next random event, instead of Good = -10 morale, neutral = nothing, and

What is your engine/number of moves per turn versus the Korath? And I might have missed it, but what are they guarding their planets with? Oftentimes, I will notice that the Korath will have a huge fleet I can't beat, but will leave only smaller ships or cargo hulls in orbit around the planet. Also, those fleets will move independently of their spore/transport ships (They dont seem to defend them when logistics). I can usually avoid the fleet, while picking off their spores and transports, a

Add more Computer Opponents. It shouldnt up the difficulty level, and might actually help you learn faster. You can see how the alignments effect wars, and you might not always be the target of the other race like you are in 1 v 1. When you only have 1 opponent, you are always #1 on the hit list

Depends on what you need during the course of the game. I would venture to say if you stuck to only one branch the research at a time, you would get in trouble. For instance, I hardly ever reach the end of any weapon tree. Theres no need to waste time researching black hole weapons when earlier techs will do the trick. Oftentimes I will bounce around to "round out" my civ. Little bit of economics, trade, miniturization, logistics, soil enhancement, whatever. If you continue to

Gotta go with Torian and Thalan a close second. Super Breeder is great. No matter what route you choose to try and win, reaching population totals faster means more money through taxes. Money to buy ships, bribe wars, build social improvements, purchase research from other races, or buy planets. Also helps a lot for replenishing planets after troop transports, or after you invade a planet and win with 150 troops to spare.

Maybe Im just not seeing it then. I don't see how you take a screenshot? Is it not like other games such as EverQuest, where you hit a hotkey and it saves it as a file? I just want to know how to post pictures like they do in the AAR's.

Ive lost my manual and the fold out sheet of hotkeys, I looked on wikipedia but couldnt find it. Is there a copy or list of commands online somewhere? Like how to take screenshots, etc.

I look at it from the standpoint that any cash you spend in the first few turns needs to be worth the cost. Depending on anomolies, I will sometimes rush buy 3 colony ships on the first 3 turns, because the faster you can colonize the more quickly those planets will produce for you. And I hate being beat to a planet by 1 or 2 moves, that really burns me. I usually wont rush buy a social improvement, unless its a research lab on a 300% icon tile or something like that. If theres a well placed
