I find it both amusing and puzzling that companies in competitive industries have fans that behave as if the company, which is unaware of their existence, is somehow an extension of their personality and that any attack on the company is an attack on them. Hundreds of years of economic theory tell us that competition results in lower prices. Any attempt to try and contradict this based on a single anecdote is just ludicrous. Valve and Stardock have both made great ga
I liked Civilization IV but they'll need to do something special for Civ V to get me to buy it. With all the mods I've got for Civ IV already it'll have to be pretty spectacular. I'm on the fence.
This is kind of how I feel. I played CivIV to death, including jumping on multiplayer games with my old college roommates at least once a week for about 2 years, and I haven't played much recently, but I wouldn't say the game

It's also worth pointing out that the biggest direct competition to Elemental isn't CivV, it's a Fall From Heaven mod for CivV. I'm not sure if the crew that did the one for CivIV is planning on tackling CivV, but even if they are it would be months before they had something that was playable. With Elemental coming out earlier, you'd have a head start on them in terms of player base. Chris Hill

As a new player who bought the game last week when it was on sale with SupCom, I find this kind of frustrating. I *love* the game so far, but was in a long singleplayer match last night that had become mostly a stalemate (due mostly to me not really knowing how to play and figuring it out as I went along). After putting an hour and a half into the game, I had to stop playing but wanted to pick it up again sometime this weekend to see if I could break the stalemate. That's wh

As someone who just bought the game this past weekend and has only played single-player so far, I can say that part of the reason I haven't done MP yet is that I want to learn how to play the game properly before joining a team of people I don't know that probably take the game far more seriously than I do. It sounds like others in this thread are similar to me, in that I have a limited amount of "gaming time" and I want that time to be relaxing. While I am very competitive, I don
If you would add links to critics reviews and user reviews, and options to browse for similar titles this would potentially add more sales, and it would be a feature to distinguish Impulse from Steam. For every game, let users discuss the game. Let users add reviews etc etc. Integrate the Impulse community features into the sales features.
Absolutely agree, 100%. When I was pondering the Demigod/SupCom+XP bundle

I'm curious whether Stardock's non-game products that are available through Impulse (ObjectDock, Fences, etc.) are included in the ranking numbers? Regardless, competition is good, and the fact that Stardock is developing a viable alternative to Steam will lead to a better situation for everyone down the road. Chris
There is not a way to save a multiplayer game, even if it is LAN.
That was my suspicion, and I can see why it may be difficult to implement, especially for non-LAN games, but is this something that could be considered for a future patch? For a 21-week game it isn't really necessary, but for the longer game lengths it pretty much necessitates having to play with timed turns. Ah, the eternal struggle of multiplayer on a turn-based-strategy game. :)

I found a couple of multiplayer bugs while setting up a LAN game and don't remember seeing anyone post them, so here's the report: 1) I created a multiplayer game (LAN) as the host using 21 turn length, 100% funding, and snail speed. My girlfriend entered the lobby, and in the listing for the game that I created it showed it as 21 turn length, 50% funding, and snail speed. When she joined the game it correctly showed it as 100% funding to her, so it seemed to just be a lob
could you guys head over to this thread and post your PC specs?
Was planning on it as soon as I get home from work. I can't play your games here, but I can read your forums :)

After seeing some of the less-than-stellar reviews for TPM2008 pop up on metacritic and read about some of the problems users had been having with the game on these forums, I wanted to take a minute to thank the devs for their hard work on the game and all the time they have spent working with the users on here who are having issues. As a developer myself (although not in the game industry) I can understand how it can seem like the only feedback you get is negative because only

I also got it at Target yesterday, at Polaris in Columbus, OH if anyone else is in the area. They only had 1 copy left after I got mine, so hurry! I also checked Gamestop and Meijer and neither of those had it yet. The Gamestop employees were suitably clueless about when/whether they'd be getting it and said something to the effect of "we don't carry many PC games, as you can see" and pointed to their rack of PC games with damaged boxes having multiple annoying price tag stickers on them.
