When I first heard rumors about Litestep.com going down about a month ago, I ran over and downloaded about every theme that tripped my trigger. I think I ended up snagging more than a hundred. Some real beauties are still there. And after playing with a few of them, I noticed just how stable those old versions of LS still are. And like Boxxi, i too have learned to appreciate the wharf all over again...

Brad, I just wanted to say thanks for your comments and posts since the terrorist attacks. I know that I've come across as caustic to both you and Stardock in the past, but I had to thank you for being both level headed and firm in your resolve to defend the integrity of the United States during this horrific time. I didn't want to make this a public issue on the boards since it would either be construed as butt kissing, or just another reason for a few of our community members

Rolf: I think I could do that this weekend, unless one of the "uber" designers wants to take it on... Give me a yell at my email, or post a reply here if you want me to give it a shot. (I'll peek in this evening after work) E

MorpheusX! Good grief! I'm ashamed he didn't make number 1 on a lot of peoples list - mine especially! Take a look at Dangeruss' and Mercury's early works and who do you see? All the young skinners wanted to grow up to be MorpheusX... He created the Holy Grail of LS themes - BorgX. And just before it's release, he disappears, causing him to become probably the most sought after

Great List! Having spent some time online with John Folden, I'm glad you've included him. That was an extremely good call... And I've been conversing with Allen Bond for about a month now, and I assure you, he misses the skinning scene too. But school is keeping him from being an active member at the moment. And as a matter of fact, I've been developing a series of skins based on his I

Hmmmm... Does anyone still actually skin apps around here anymore, or do they just wait for the debate teams to choose up sides? If folks pushed pixels as hard as they pushed opinions, I'd be able to get my 50 megs of registered application skin downloads on a daily basis... /me breaks out the Prozac for some, and Dr. Who's Jelly-Babies for the rest.

Actually, you can switch shells on the fly, without leaving to DOS if you use a program like ShellON. I use it to switch from Litestep to PureLS to Explorer to Talisman and back with no problems at all. And did I mention it was free? http://delusional.psionstyle.co.uk/dx/shellon.htm

Mobius: All joking aside: If you agree with Hermann Rorschach's inkblot test theory, when a person looks at something like an abstract piece of work, the person looking at the work and his interpretation of it, tells you about the observer - not the artist. /me goes off to flap his lips with his finger... buggabuggabugga
