NOOOO Go with an ATI video card. I don't believe Nvidia supports hardware accelertation for your desktop (skins). ATI does and it makes a huge differance when running lots of eyecandy. The only problem I have with ATI is their terrible support for Linux. My desktop at home runs WB, CoursorXP and DX, all with animations without a noticable slowdown using an old ATI 9000 in dual screen mode. My work computer can't run animations without choking on a single screen with just WB running.

Been using VMware here for several months and it is great. We have some ancient accounting software that will only run on Win95. The accounting software is extreamly sensitive to system changes. We take a snapshot of the system in good running order and never have to reboot the virtual machine. If the system crashes, as the accounting software likes to do, you revert to the snapshot and your ready to go. You can also put the same snapshot on several machines. The only problem I have see

There have been a few times when I was in a hurry and saw a featured skin I liked but didn't have time to download/explore. I come back the next day and it is gone and I don't remember the name or what type of skin it was. An archive would solve this. I am currently using a second hard drive for the swap file with XP. The hard drive is set to spin down if it is not used for 5min. With 384 megs of ram and several aps running the drive spends most of its time sleeping.

I used to have that problem with Photoshop. Either a newer version of WB fixed it or changing video cards did. I suspect that it was WB though. For a long time I was able to work around the problem by using a UIS1 skin. I second joe's suggestion.
