What I'd like is a notification icon instead of a popup, though... Easier to dismiss, but you still get the information what was found.

TA improves the graphics in several ways: - Better improvement icons from higher resolution models - Better planet textures - Better ship textures (much, much better...) - Animated ship parts! That radar dish or engine part? It can now rotate! Of course, TA also has unique tech trees, new invasion screens, better AI, larger maps, new victory conditions, autodesign of ships, editors for just about everything (tech, component, map, campaign, improvements)...
How do you know when to end a game for maximum points?
Practice. And trial and error. You don't HAVE to submit a game once you finish it. ;) Basically there are two different extremes: ZYW: Finish in the first year, ideally on turn 12 (the earliest possible turn without getting cheatflagged). This allows you to completely ignore some aspects of the game (like, say, building a stable economy) and can net you up to almost 40k points. Gig abundant

Victory type is one of the major factors. Military always gives you the most points. Other factors are time (the more turns you take, the lower your score is) and generally your ratings in game. Again, military being the most important one, economy and research being two others. It is also important to increase these rating as soon as possible and keep them high - the score is in fact some sort of integral, meaning that achieving an extreme rating two turne before winning doesn't do muc

It's important to remember that autopilot movement happens at the END of your turn. That way, you can always react to enemy movement and change the destination of a ship. If autopilot moved at the beginning of a turn, there wouldn't be any moves left to do that.

Heh, it seems his 'never return ever' lasted about two or three days, as he's posting in the ToA news thread anyway. :P

Yeah, if I actually could find time, I'd probably get GTA4... But I already have way too many games lying around unfinished. :(

Data editors: Ultraedit, Notepad++, MSVS200x (for XML). Or just wait for the TA release, which will have every editor you need.

I honestly don't get why people are upset about this. Everyone usually rants how publishers push out unpolished titels, yet when a company takes the extra minute to really squash the last few bugs, they should just push it out the door? Keep in mind, TA is in PUBLIC BETA, which, for all accounts, probably is pretty close to the final product. There are constant updates about the curren status and what's being worked on. In the last poll, the majority voted 'make sure it's bug f
