Iron Lore did not listen to the users, blaming piracy for the lack of good game code is just like a child getting the last cry/fit in just before its grounded. I own TQ, i have a machine thats well beyond the min spec (I can run X3 at 35fps in full combat for petes sake) yet i still had slowdowns and irritations with Titan Quest. I didnt even bother to get the expansion. Too bad they had to leave but maybe the industry will learn a thing or two before running out and releasing garbage

meepzero: there is a way to combine multiple mods, however they cannot change/overwrite the same files. So if you run a graphic mod for planets stars etc, you can combine this particle mod with it, so long as you do not need to overwrite the files. If you do, it might or might not cause a crash. The problem for the moment is we have to use the entire Gameinfo and particle directorys. Graphics and sound do not seem to share this limitation (none that i can see anyhow), but if we could s
well i just clicked the download button and...still get a 4k rar corrupt file. Lol maybe someone pulled a trick on you while you were on vacation.
guys, they stated quite clearly there is NO steam support. zero, zip, notta. they did not design sins to use the steam overlay. having to run Stardock once in awhile to check for updates/downloads isnt that bad. "There is much more to be gained by selling the product on it, rather than competing with it." Thats silly, kinda like saying Zmart should offer special deals through Qmart just due them being in the same type of business. im not shaking my finger suggesting
thanks for this, i like the idea of combining the HW music with sins.
uh..anyone else able to grab the files? seems the link takes ya to the right spot but instead of a 47mb file you get..a 4k file. Ive tried firefox and IE same thing.
i worked on this a bit myself derbal. One of the easiest ways is to change the lines in the ships beam weapon code: beamGlowColor ffffffff beamCoreColor ffffffff These Are ARGB. (alpha, red green blue in sets of two hex numbers. FF=255) so by adjusting it to read ff00ff00 its basically a bright green beam. The other way you can do it is to load up the file TechCapitalBeam_Glow.dds and then use the hue/sat to change its color. then export it as a dds file, 8 bit alpha argb.
this really adds a lot to sins, and i thought the effects were decent to start with. Quite an eye candy upgrade your making here. Ill download this as soon as its released.
*cough* None of ye shall survive...a full session of Master of Orion 3. You want in depth, huge technology trees and all the micromanagement? there ya go. Not great on graphics compared to nowdays but at least you get the full lineup. I just dont have a month for a game session anymore, gotta work n sleep ya know. Gal Civ 2 is another, yes yes space empires V as well...if you can stand the ..sound effects. blah. Sins *for me* seems to focus more on tactics and out thinking/fl
the file front link seems to be hosed but ill check this out. looks good.
*attacks myrmidos with a pointed stick for thread derailment* dude, it informs you to register your serial with/through stardock in the first few steps after sins installs. RTFM *poke poke..pokes again* Im not being a jerk, just pointing out that should have registered before ya even started up sins. Glad ya found the solution :)
Ya know, i remember some of these flash sticks needing a special driver to transfer data/format etc etc. Just to do one more test, try going into safemode (pressing f8 ten thousand times right after you power on the pc) and see if you can format the stick from that mode. sometimes these things come preloaded with all kinds of stuff, there may be some sort of ..driver or interface software that messes with things. if it were a hard drive id just fdisk the thing and make a new
Im not a tech anymore, (i stopped all my certifications at WIN2K...bah!) so take what i say with a grain of salt. I have not experienced the hangup issue anymore. However i do NOT use the exit/close feature in the game. When its time to quit, I alt tab out and terminate the exe via the task manager in Win XP. Soase does take a LOT of ram, ive seen it peak at 1.7 Gig before, it could be bad memory management from xp however i do not have the tools to properly watch ram locations and suc
Ok im not as educated as i should be on this subject, feel free to flame. 1. Game piracy is about doing something for fun, how many pirate groups make profit at it? I have no clue, but i doubt they make much. Nothing can be gained by pirating games except for free entertainment to a point, you still need to buy the hardware heh. 2. Remember back last year when several of the publishing companys backed by the Riaa and such went after the Digital FM streams? Its still not resolv
I dont know why but i find this thread funny. Why dont ya ask valve/steam to make an interface for the game? Its not SOASE that has the problem, it wasnt built/coded to have an steam overlay. Hello? Its kinda like a ford guy asking for mustang parts at a chevy dealership, not gonna happen. Actually thats a bad example, you can order parts, they just cost 4 times as much. *shrugs sorry for the thread derail*.
you might want to consider a spyware/virus scan then make sure you disconnect the device properly. Do you have multiple items hooked up to the usb port? Put enough of them on a single usb port and it could effect data, esp if its all flash cards/ram which are dependent on usb power alone. Might even consider a full scandisk (it takes time) in case your hard drive has errors, which might cause transfer problems. What kind of usb device is it? Ive seen all kinds of models over the years
ive had a bit of success. i have not been able to change the skybox when you zoom in to an area, just the one for the star. Ill look into this more when i get back from work. vol
Ahh freespace2, ill never forget that game. Ill also never forget flying around and coming face to face with a destroyer that i couldnt see 10 feet ago due to the nebula effects. Might take a peek at freelancer for some ideas as well. There are several things going on in the neublas in sins, if you watch closely you do see lightning and such. Increasing the texture size might do something to help, however most fx or sprites/2d polygons games use for effects have a limit. Might help to
i really like this pack, thank you :)
technically we do not run pos computers, rather the grandparents of the beasts of today. and 1024x768 isnt bad..course, im runing my pc off a HD tv :P (must play sins on 32" widescreen.) its too bad we simply cant hook a bunch of these pc's up and have the operating system span 3 or 4 of em and make our poor man's quad core hah! Imagine the fun we would have with vista drivers and xp's bsod's. Yay..i er *(slaps self for near derailment of thread)* ...sorry.
there is a 1.2 trainer over at cheathappens.com, but it wont be avail to the public for a while. If you want it now, ya have to apply for membership, which costs money. I already can hear people screaming about paying for a trainer. Only things i can say about that is, they are virus free, no keylogger worries, no spyware and they are very quick with updates. Its a one stop source for multiple game trainers and hints tips. ..Try not to flame people for using trainers, they just speed u
Id say the worst part about that setup from the OP is the gfx card. The FX5200 series is ..really really (did i mention really) bottom of the line. I had one trying to play games and the thing just killed me. my setup is a 1.8 gig Athlon, standard EIDE 7800 rpm drive (yes yes no sata), 2 gigs of ram (DDR400 i think) and a Nvidia 7800 OC from Bfg tech. Id say my video card is doing most of the work heh. I do have framerate issues in big battles, and when the effects get flying everywher
a screen shot would help a bit if you can get one, but id suggest double checking your refresh rate under the resolution. i set mine at 60.
ahh good, finally someone from the source released info. ..pity it isnt march but this gives me time to ..save up enough cash for a new machine heh.
ok what about making a new type of factory for your units? is there a way to say, add in a new class? maybe a BattleCruiser class, then the new factory can list your new ships. entityType "CapitalShip" seems to be the critical thing here. If theres a way to create a new entitytype, maybe we can then add in new models but i think the UI still only allows 7 units i think. ill experiment abit with this too.
