Just sent a bit of feedback to Games for Windows on the error on their Sins game page (wrong developer listed, although the publisher is correct) Took me 4 attempts, since their Spam-filter was bouncing my messages all the time due to the word Sins being tagged as obscene language. Finally managed it without naming the title of the game (not an easy task) and added some feedback on the strictness of their filters while i was at it. :)
Nice, while at the site i noticed "Universe at War." I quickly researched the game, and man how does crap like that get made? I mean the gameplay may be good, no idea personally, but from the story itself it seems like a total cheeseball of a game.
The storyline of the campaign is indeed rather reminiscent of a lot of cliché sci-fi movies, but that also has its charms. ;) Although Humanity looses for a change. The gameplay itself isn't all that bad, but the thing

Aren't standard USB sticks formatted to FAT, rather than FAT32 or NTFS? FAT can't handly files over 2GB in size i believe. FAT32 can handle up to 4GB and NTFS can handle quite a bit over that. (not 100% sure on max size it can handle, but a lot more than 4GB) A file larger than 2GB will seriously mess up a FAT disk, it just can't handle it. And i doubt windows will stop you from copying the file over. If you ziped a file that big, try doing it again, but breaking it up into sma

Fragile allegiance was indeed pretty good. (now you've made me promise myself to go find the box later :p ) My personal favorites in terms of Space RTS would have to be: Imperium Galactica 2: In essence very much like Sins, although due to the amount of management that needs doing you'd use the pause button a whole lot more. (that game would have been uttery amazing with something like the Empire tree) Nexus: The Jupiter Incident: Simply Amazing. Very heavily
Ok, sorry for the noob question but why wont my CE serial work in My Colors? Apparantly when i hit download updates from the ingame menu all i get is the Bonus 1.02 download. Am i supposed to see 2 other CE downloads?
if you have a CE you should indeed be seeing the soundtrack and the Techtree/art downloads too yes. Aswell as the myColors download. (since that was added too) If they're not showing for you, mail stardock to get it sorted out.

Anasus, Vasari have some pretty great counters to Advent, maybe you could try changing your buildup a little if you know you're facing an advent player? (i mean, Phase Out for instance by the Desolator really screws up the Advent mothership, especially since you can keep it phased with a little micro) And don't count out your own capships, a carrier supporting a fleet with repair cloud becomes incredibly hard to kill allowing your more powerful, but less numerous vessels to win. Also, don't disc

As Ron was so kind to point out, i was indeed implying quality rather than availability. Sure the drivers are there, but the consumers get the short end of the development stick. Hardware requiring 64-bit drivers for professional application will undoubtedly work flawlessly, but since so few consumers use a 64-bit OS, i doubt much time is spent developing drivers for consumer hardware. (unless its a Mac, since the latest version is only available in the 64-bit version) There's a good re

Ever considered it may also be in part due to your operating system? Vista64 has fairly lousy drivers regardless of the component manufacturer. There just isn't much support and development time being spent on those drivers. Unlike the 32-bit editions. I'm guessing you need a 64-bit OS for your work or something, because there is no way you need that 8 GB RAM while gaming, even at completely ridiculous resolutions with that SLI setup. 4GB RAM and those cards on 32-bit Vista would p

i'm running Catalyst 7.10 with my x1950, and have no issues what so ever. However i don't know if that version will also do the same for your 9800. Just make sure before installing the other driver to completely remove the old one. Uninstalling won't be enough in many cases. [link="http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745"]Driver Cleaner Pro[/link] will remove more or less any trace of your current drivers, which should allow you to install new ones cleanly.

@ Darkside, best solution i've found to the "AI Gangs Up on Me" problem was to play FFA but with locked teams and each AI in its own team. Then they'll happily slaughter eachother aswell as you. It really deminishes the early gangbang issue. However it nullifies any diplomatic scheming you might want to do...

I use them all the time regardless of race. Fighters just plow through LRM and Siege Frigs while the bombers take care of anything bigger. However massed basic frigates can be rather tricky and are best dealt with using area damage, which is why i never field carrier exclusive fleets, always apply a good mix of vessels.

currently there is no European release date. SD is bugging distributors with the current succes of the game backing them, but previously no one saw a market for the game. However Stardock is very good when it comes to digital distribution and you can even order the box over if you like. Payment options via Paypal and Creditcard are on the site, and mailing [email protected] may yield other options if you ask nicely. With the current value of the dollar ordering the game from europ

Well, its going to take a little getting used to i guess. Especially if you've never played an RTS or 4X game before. However, unlike most RTS Sins isn't very fast-paced so that will help. The tutorials should be quite a bit of help too, especially the basic ones as those are about subjects RTS veterans will know well, but you might not. And when you first start out, go for small 1v1 maps with an easy computer opponent to learn the game. Probably best to play with pirates off

Record sofar is 6 and a half hours, and i'm only now starting to kill of a single AI of the 3 i have in the game. Been having a tug of war with that AI for the past 2 hours or so. :) Aswell as being on the receiving end of the majority of pirate raids. (which my in system defences can handle now, so that saves me some worries.) If the other opponents go at a similar pace i'm looking at another 12-15 hours or so. ;)

with the default 35 slots you get on a planet (not asteroid) you can maintain 4-5 Defence Hangars, some repair structures and a couple of guns. Which will stop pirate raids dead in their tracks, and can handle siege frigs very well too. For defence against a real fleet you'll need a fleet of your own ofcourse, but when assisted by the structures your fleet can be fairly small and still hold the line.
Sadly all I ever get is the Bonus Pack update. I never see the MyColors file.
Do you have a collectors Edition? (or did you pre-order? Since that counts as CE) If you do, and its not showing, mail stardock and get it sorted. If you however don't have CE you're out of luck i'm afraid.
Ok maybe I missed something or I'm too tired to fully understand something at the moment. So can those of us with WB use this without the extra application? Moreover importantly where can we download it from?
Easiest way 1Spartan, click download updates ingame, download the MyColors setup file there (located above the CE contect files), install it. Then in the program, enter your Sins Serial (with your SD account e-mail) and it sh
I tried to install MyColors. It does nothing. It has asked me twice to confirm EULA and the target directory. After that it downloaded something from the web and that is all. No question about the serial number nor any change of the theme. The target directory does not exist. I only found this file c:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\MYCOLORS_SETUP.EXE-02D51EF5.pf . What shall I do? I am running WinXP.
That's indeed rather odd. Is your firewall
ok what happened? i download the theme go apply it and my desktop switches into classic mode and all i get is the sins walpaper. none of my icons ,cursor,or windows change. wtf happened?
Well it switches to "classic mode" to switch themes. Luna (the default XP theme) needs to be turned off (which is what you saw happening) after that it starts applying the new theme, that may take a couple of minutes depending on your compute

Still play EVE (quite a bit less now i also play Sins i might add :P) They both have their good points and attractions. But they're are each very much their own game. :) But i agree with the OP, Sins looks amazing (and runs amazing too i might add) And so does EVE. well i'm actually guessing IC already took some inspiration from the EVE side of things. Both games run amazingly well on my "low-to-mid-range" gaming computer, so on the optimisation side they really did very well. I'm
Yay, thats good to know. Microsoft ruined Halo 2 by making it vista only. Have been wanting to play that, but dont have an xbox.
No Halo 2 runs flawlessly under directX9, you just need to hack it a little bit :P It checks if Dx10 is present before installing or running, just need to nuke the check and it works fine under XP. ;)

Unreal Engine 3 (which is what Mass Effect is based on) supports Dx10, but runs just fine with Dx9c, and indeed on the ME boards for Bioware Chris has been reassuring people it will come to XP and Vista.
