I don't know if I like care for the changes to the PJI. I thought it was a bug and wasn't working at first. /shurg

I just finished a game with 5 AIs on hard difficulty (no teams). Near the middle of the game one of the AIs would send a fleet to attack my planet but when it arrived it would turn around and retreat. It was caught in "ping pong" mode. It must have repeated this 12 times or more till I stationed a fleet of light carriers with bombers to destroy them when they popped in.
Tons of great input and feedback here. I think many of these things are on the dev's to do list right now. There are so many new changes that came with Beta 2 (example: logistics) that I doubt there has been much time for stuff like AI tuning. Keep the list up to date and lets see what the next patch brings. Cheers
I wanted to ask one of the Stardock or Ironclad guys what their philosophy behind the 3 different resources. Right now, most of the research items as you rise up the tree take equal amounts of both crystals and metal. Ships take fewer crystals to build than metal. Credits seem to limit ship building and planet development at the start of a game. Is limiting crystal supplies intended to govern the speed of development and advancement in the overall game? Are there plans to
Not sure if this one will be any good. Remember what Lucas did to Star Wars?
Flak frigates no longer chase enemy fighters as they did in Beta 1. They seem to target enemy ships and structures now like other attach ships. I'm thinking this is a bug. Cheers
I haven't played enough on larger galaxies to see how this balances out, but that's the concept. -Autistic Angel I'm playing in a 3 system game with all AIs set to hard on FFA settings (no marauders). I had 3 enemy AIs in my first system. With the new buffed up difficulty from pirate cruisers, the AI is a much softer target than the pirate defended planets. The new Terran ring system in use pretty much plac
Does the HPDP only affect income from the taxes? -85% seems kind of harsh. Is this designed to reduce the effectiveness of larger civilizations as they continue to grow? I also wanted to ask, does the metal to crystal extractor ratio equal the orbital refinery metal to crystal bonus? With crystals being much more rare now, would scuttling the old metal extractors increase orbital refinery crystal production?
My cholesterol shot up 10 points from looking at the picture.
in regards to: "(capital ships will now be the rarities they've always been intended to be)" Here! Here! I would be very curious to know some details about that statement. What's the scoop? Cap ship time to build going up; prices going up; or research requirements going up; or you can't tell us till Thursday? I hope they get buffed up a bit since they will become rarer.
With the release of Beta 2, will be the main focus to be looking for game play bugs? I'm also wondering if the Vasari and Advent will become available during Beta 2 for balance testing. It isn't much good to comment on starship balance when only the TEC are available. Finally, will the research tree be different for each of the 3 factions (I'm guessing it will be but only slightly)? Thanks
It has been reported that the guys from Maxis are too busy with Spore to do Sim City 5. Too bad Tilted Mill is going to ruin Sim City permanently. Perhaps after they utterly destroy the Sim City name, a new company with fresh ideas will start a new "clone" series where Sim City 4 left off and revitalize the concept? R.I.P. Sim City. We will miss you.
The Shell Game of Evolution and Creation The many debates, court cases, letters to the editor, and talk shows on the subject of evolution and creation almost without exception demonstrate the shell game played with the terms creationism, evolution, science, religion, and faith. The game usually begins with a statement that evolution is a proven fact. Next, this claim is established by the presentation of voluminous evidence from the physical sciences and the f
Again I don't like the idea of stars being the choke points. It would be better to find some other reason to have them as a valuable target. Perhaps starbases that boost the efficiency of all the planets' structures in the solar system? A system-wide military-boosting starbase would be a valuable target... I'm not sure I understand your suggestion. Wouldn't an "efficiency structure/star base" that boosts military defensive
So basically all fleets and platforms become next to useless. I somehow don't think Ironclad will go for this idea. Paradoxnt, I would say you are not thinking outside the box. Terrans in Starcraft have nukes. Does this make all zerg and protoss units and defenses useless? Something tells me 10+ million Koreans that worship the game would say “no” and then lol. Artillery bombardments are used in grou
Regarding the discussion on chokepoints and stalemates using a phase-lane connection system, I think the issue can be easily resolved. Major defensive positions could be neutralized using special weapons like a "super anti-matter bomb” or “super Ion Bomb” that you could launch into a phase-lane and explodes on the other side. Such a device would destroy or temporarily disable all enemy ships and defenses in a portion (25-50% of the enemy grav-well) while the attacker's fleet jumps in s
