thir fighters are a tad tougher than normal fighters but not as tough as the marines
Not exactly, they both have the same 4+ save, so eldar fighters and thunderhawks are the same toughness. Also, eldar torpedoes and bombers are more deadly are more deadly and more likely to slip by turrets, and their holofields reduce the effects of lances and ordinance considerably. great work on the models, and its nice to see somebody else who knows the rules and the effect t
now what to put as the chaos seige cap ship...
PLANET KILLER!!!!!! oh, "its basically a fleet", you say? oh, damn, you're absolutely correct (unless you consider inordinate sloth to be a sufficient weakness)
yeah, it probably won't work (but one can hope...). just go vista. Here's why: [link="http://www.crysis-online.com/images/news/true_dx9vsdx10/DX9%20(No%20AA).jpg"]Crysis in DX9[/link] vs. [link="http://www.crysis-online.com/images/news/true_dx9vsdx10/DX10%20(No%20AA).jpg"]Crysis in DX10[/link] I love XP and all, but (no offense to the pointilists) DX9 crysis looks like a pointilist's take on the DX10 version. And, once nvidia and ati get their drivers
I'd love to help, but i have the amazing powers of incompetence that made a bloody recoloring go awry (couldn't get the right color to add transparency, so roland the headless thompson gunner became roland the fuschia-headed thompson gunner). Also, i'm overworked, and i've got a month in which me and a partner have to write a working MUD engine and scripting system from the ground up. So i'm no help for a while, but if you give me time, i might be able to help, especially if it takes till summer
OH GOD YES!!!!!!! ok, now that the nerdgasm is over...
My opinion is that this game modded by a bunch of semi-pro's to look like BFG would probably be about as fun as this game modded to look like star trek or battlestar galactica. It would just be freaking cosmetic.
no... just no... If you've played BFG before you'd know that a lot of the elements are very different from sins or any of the others. For example, the Eldar use solar sai
I'm considering upgrading -- if only because of DX10 + wanting 64 bit so I can break the 2 (4) GB limit
[link="http://www.techmixer.com/download-directx-10-for-windows-xp/"]If this works,[/link] you can run dx10 on XP eventually. I'm thinking of getting [link="http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/facts/trial.mspx"]XP x64 edition[/link], which will break the 4 gb limit, and seeing if that demo will work properly in x64 xp, and if it does
why would anyone spend that much money on a computer :/
Because, for about 1400 bucks, I can make a computer that'll probably stay relevant for four or five years instead of buying two or three cheaper computers, and have significantly more performance now. If you buy stuff for price/performance, you can get a really solid computer that'll last a long while for a reasonable price.
Ironically, most of the peopl
Just a heads up, but some of the more dirty minded gamers (or those playing after studying for health class, such as me (perish the thought that an 18 year old male such as I might entertain dirty thoughts)) may see Aereolan (as in 'as pertaining to the region around a certain bit of female anatomy that I may or may not be allowed to mention on these forums') as opposed to Aerolian (perfectly innocent, yet definitely construable as a Freudian slip). Just saying, considering how touchy we America
I went xp because I had a disc lying around. If that's illegal, sue me... or actually don't, I really have no need to pay protection money to microsoft right now. I feel no compunctions because the new computer is replacing the previous user of that copy of xp. Plus, it runs better without all that DRM stupidity they packed Vista full of. Still, os is your call, and it is definitely a complicated trade-off. Same with 64 and 32 bit, its complicated. I had those choices made for me, because I had
wow, do you need that much of ram, graphics proccessor to just play the game
no, not at all. I'm running the game quite successfully on a 1.5 GHz core 2 duo laptop with a gig of ram and an integrated video card (on low, but without any slowdown at all, and it doesn't matter if the models the icons represent are blurry that much anyway), so I think you could do it on even less if you turn the effects down. I don't even the devs kno
EBITAD, I just recently bought a new computer, so I'm in an excellent position to tell you to take Kosh's advice on most of the stuff if you're building your own computer, or having someone build it for you. I highly recommend the new 512 mb GT and GTS. The only place where an ULTRA will outperform a new GTS is when you turn AA on. [link="http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3175&p=3"]See here for benchmarks.[/link] Also, I can tell you that evga has them in stock (not the 512 8800
And banning Scientology is just taking a step back to Nazism, in a way, since Hitler banned all Christianity but his own church, which fully supported anything he wanted, of course. This time it is just one kind of church they've banned--the question is where they will stop banning churches and other ideologies. Scientology is not a church, it's a money-making scheme.
Exactly.
I can't wait till I get my computer up and running and upgrade to an 8800 GT (evga rules!) It should be a lot of fun.
That sounds excellent, throw in another vote because I really don't want to see my opponents getting my unique techs.
Yep, same here. I bought it because it looked cool and because I wouldn't have to download a no-cd exe to make it run the way it should. It sucks having to go through most of the steps of pirating a game just so I have a product as good as the ones pirates have, but I don't recognize the DMCA as a moral law, so I have no compunctions about disobeying it, seeing as it violates the fair use laws and many more laws the US is built on. The DRM companies are just spinning a sugar-sweet fairy tale for
I still wrote the ONLY three player map, you can put it in if you want. It isn't going to be "only" for long... specifically, as long as it takes me to finish installing and playing Crysis!
That's it, I'm writing a nine player map to preserve my name for posterity. Oh, wait, 3v3v3. It makes too much sense. I'm going to write a 7 player map just to mess with people and give me an excuse to mess around with the map editor, which sounds awesome.
yeah, what ron said, and the fact that unless you're playing a huge map your colonizing should be mostly done by when you get media centers, and the fact that planets you have just blown the infrastructure off of are also uninhabited, and (presumably) in a state of major anarchy or everybody's dead, and in neither case will culture get a planet to join you (especially since the infrastructure would have to spring fully formed from zeus' head, and isn't just what it was for the other guy, complic
Why are the fighters of carrier vessels "in transit" automatically locked int he docked position? I'd really like to have them launch and take out any enemies they can on a long transit through the star, for example.
not just that, but providing fighter cover for the fleet. A carrier heavy fleet with its fighters sitting safely in the launch bays is just begging to get toasted. Additionally, if the bombers are sitting in the carriers, who's going to take care of
Also, it should take advantage of mutual support and any lack thereof on the opponent's part. A repair station in the middle of a group of gauss cannons clustered to protect some hangars is much more dangerous than the three separately, and more importantly, can slow the enemy down much more than if the hangars are just hidden behind a loose group of cannons that can't mass fire to defend themselves. I want to see the AI take advantage of mistakes like that by, say, rushing a gaggle of frigates
In a recent game I played, three straight phase jumps stranded a few of my frigates. Highly annoying. I think it had something to do with the fact that I was streaming the frigates out of the factory and I kept issuing orders and changing the 'grouped move' option around while they were in phase space. I think that ships in phase space should be locked in, and nothing should stop them. Also, I want all my ships going into a system to end up in generally the same place if they're grouped. But mos
I want to win because I play superior to an intelligent opponent that thinks up ways to challenge me, not because I find exploits to counter the cheating advantage of it. Curses, it needs flash! The suffering that i have to go through with x64 linux. Now I'll have to reboot.
Another fun one (in handy add-to-list format): In a recent game, the two ai players attacked a massively fortified asteroid (full tactical cap used in a mutually supporting ball of defenses) instead of a defenseless (well, I did add a turret later to defend the resourcing platforms from a cobalt that wandered by, but still) terran which was open to any attack that wanted to go through a gas planet. However, I would like to congratulate the AIs on how they consistently coordinated their
I'll do my part, I guess. Now how to flame an entire thread in a single statement... *thinks, calls up assorted arms dealers*
Well, if I wanted to, I could probably teach the pacific theater theater of WWII at Annapolis from about 5 different perspectives, and that probably means I'm not normal. I'll post screenshots in a few weeks, once I get my good computer running (Or more than about 10 contiguous minutes to myself (thrice accursed Intel paper (With all these nested parentheses, this is starting to look like lisp))). Of course, the fact that, even though I'm seventeen, my punctuation, grammar and vocabulary are [I]
