yes its possible but it wiont be easy its not hardcoded.
I use 3ds max 7 and unwrap3d I convert models that I find on the net that max caint convert like Lwo,Sod,DDs,and convert them to 3ds with Unwrap 3d than place texteures and hard pionts on them with max.
you can drag the textures onto the model itself its the quick and dirty way to texture ships. Its not perfect but it works.
Ive done worse I made friends with two races stole all there techs than traded crapy techs for all there money than I wiped both of them out.
actualy yes I do I wasint sure if your using ships or space navy's because I saw your screen shots and didint know what you where using.Because I made 10 types of space planes,and 10 types of star ships.

The mod is almost ready I was having some technology issues I couldint get my techs to show up but Ive fixed the problem and will be uploading it very soon but be warned its a big file over 500mb I couldint get it any smaller.It wiont contain any ships but there are alot of other changes that you should enjoy.
if your willing to pay for it try logosmartz or aaa logo there both worth what you pay for plus there pretty cheap both under 25$ trust me its worth what you pay hope this helps.
how do you open Str files ive tried using notepad like you said and I couldnt open it so how did you a lot of us would like to how to open Str files.
You must not be verygood at 3d modeling because all you need to do convert a engin model to X create a tech for it thats it and besides and the X3GC2 mod I saw that it is possible to make new parts and modules so I tried it and they showed up.Its not hardcoded so it should be easy to create new parts.
actuly thats not true its not hardcoded plus ive learned how it was quite easy when its done ill post screen shots of the new modules that ive made 3 sofar and more to come.Plus ill make a walkthrough on how to make new modules.
yes I know im a much better modder now and always post screenshots of my mods now and the reason I wrote my post so poorly was because it wasint quite ready for release.But when its ready ill write the details of it much better.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to make make new parts and modules I know how to convert ships and make them from scratch but theres not a walkthrough for making new parts I diont know what size to scale them as.So if anyone knows let me know thanks.
actuly thats not true theres one for starcraft and verious startrek games thats all I know for now.
make one if you doint think the one thats already out is anygood there are plenty of modding guides found here at stardock to help you.
Hey pndrev what mods have you released or made Ive made lots because ive haveint seen or played any mods made by you ive got lots of posivtive feedback from my dune conversion alot of people are waiting for it.Because your asking alot im on the star wars mod team right and I doint have time to post that much stuff plus ive been ask twice to join the stargate mod team and to form an andromeda team.So post some of your mods and lets see who's is better.

whenever that happens ist your raceconfig file when you where changing the altarens or the korath you might have deleted the this part >by mistake whenever you do that it will mess up your game even if you fix the problem it'll still messup so its best keep your racecon file and just copy paste everything and be carefull not to delete that part because its hardcoded hope that this helps if it still does that than its something ealse.
