Is there an in-game tutorial? Or do I need to reference this post?
You don't legally own any games in your Steam account. If you read the steam EULA, you are buying the game licenses on behalf of Valve, who then own them, but make them available to your account.
This is true for all software, not just Steam. If you are going to fault Steam for near proforma EULA, you might as well fault all software. Secondly, courts have maintained that EULA are no binding (as no one re
People who don't like Steam don't know anything about it. OR they just like spending way too much on games (Steam is so cheap).
Call me crazy, but I think the changes made in Civ:BE are great. While I wouldn't want to see them in a "traditional" Civ game, they do make the gameplay less linear. There are also more unknowns on how your opponents are doing. It becomes less of a race to build the wonders, because your opponents could be going on a completely different tech track. As other have said, people ALWAYS complain when the new civ comes out. It gets old. It must b
This is huge news.
I am actually surprised the beta is coming that early anyway. Great job!
I can't believe how great this looks for an alpha
Will we be getting Steam keys mailed to us? Or will there be a download link in the founder's vault? Or something else? Also, any word on the approximate time of day tomorrow? We don't mean to pressure you, but as you can imagine, many of us are excited to get a 'first taste'.
Will they just be emailing us a Steam key as it gets closer to the 27th?

Except we keep hearing the same reasons over and over again. And those reasons, in this thread among others, have been debunked. 1.) "Steam doesn't have mod support"- It has great mod support. 2.) "Steam is always on!"- But you can put it in

I am surprised the songs are exactly the same as GalCiv 2. I assume the game will feature some original music?
I'm retired (over 65).
I hope I am exactly like you in 30 years. Retired and still playing video games. Game on!
How do you people find the time?
I have a regular game going on with some friends in Civilization V (all expansions). Really well done game. I did reinstall Galciv 2 with the intention of playing it again. Hopefully I'll find time soon.
For me, Steam is an enhancement. I like the in-game "Shift-Tab" overlay. I like being able to chat with friends and get updates as they sign on and launch new games. I like my friends to be able to see what I am playing. I like how Steam makes it easy to invite friends to join into your game and vice-versa. I like having all of time games in one convenient library. I like being notified when new content is available for my game. I like Steam sale
Quoting abiessener, reply 22Valve has long said that if it has to shut Steam down for any reason, people who own Steam games will be taken care of. People keep repeating this, but I've never seen a link to where Gabe Newell actually said that.
This is from Steam Support: http://i.imgur.com/4sa1Ln6.jpg
You are forgetting that for a while it was a better alternative to Steam.
I would never have said Impulse was better than Steam. The available library of games alone proved that.
The best thing about building your own ships in galciv2 was that it saved your designs for later use in other games.
I do remember that. That is a feature I love.
My friends and I play a regular game of Civ V online. I really hope multiplayer works similar to that so we can easily transition. I think online multiplayer need to be optimized to minimize the amount of time I sit there waiting to take my turn. Civ V does this great with simultaneous turns. Also, a save feature is a must for multiplayer. It is unreasonable to expect marathon play sessions all the time.
I would not have preordered this game if it wasn't on Steam. Hell, all these people who "don't trust Steam" seem to be forgetting they had no issue using Impulse.
