the argument that, because blizzard is still in business, anything that potential reduces their profits is OK is probably one of the most poorly thought out arguments on this entire forum. most people learn in elementary school that you can't do what ever you want whenever you want because either directly or indirectly you are hurting someone else or in some way violating their rights. that bot hurts every WOW user who doesn't use it as well as blizzard who has to combat it. aside from that i

what about those annoying AI colonized class one and two planets that I'd just rather blow up than pay the maintenance and defense costs for? then blowing up the star isn't an option.
freeman in post 51: you know, bombing the hell out of everything may not win wars, but a few well placed nuclear weapon strikes, or a big asteroid do a lot more damage that bombs. planetary bombardment is a good idea. my thoughts since at the end of the tech tree, your ships can fire black holes and doom rays anyways, why can't I destroy entire planets. the spore ship is nice and all, but shouldn't that ship with 200+ beam attack be able to turn the planet into a ba
well thank you everyone for clarifying what we're arguing about. what exactly was the judges logic for deciding that this is copyright infringement. can someone post that part of the case on the forum?
as someone was saying earlier in the forum (assuming they are correct) the bot has to load the game into RAM (as any program does), and the judge apparently used this as the reason for calling it copyright infringement. I know that's a poor explanation, but do read the last 2 pages worth of posts.
I think we're all arguing about the same thing. does anyone disagree w/ this: the hacker/modder was wrong, legally and ethically the judges call was BS and blizzard was well within it's rights to sue/ seek compensation anyone got a problem w/ that
thank u Jafo. though I think neutering could be a little severe. maybe they should make him keep this quiet, and have him release an 'updated' version of his program that automatically bans anyone who trys 2 us it. maybe they should add a fine clause in the EULA. then they can take their loses out of anyone dumb enough to use that program. talk about sweet revenge... as Zydor in 73: we're not trying to protect the hacker/modder in any way. as u pointed out, to wrong
I;m a total call of duty 4 addict, and while It's not an mmo, tempers can definitely be provoked simply by loosing. (on of the disadvantages of voice chat) now imagine how thoroughly annoyed I'd be if someone started utterly destroying me and the rest of my team because they were cheating (or more accurately they leveled up by cheating and got all the good weapons.) that hurts me, the one who just purchased a $60 game, and the company that made it, because I'm going to tell my friends it's no
sorry for double posting
I definitely like what has been suggested so far for the most part (excluding that part about chuck norris(funny but so off topic)) personally I think star bases should have a more diverse role in game play. As a civ advances, it would make sense for them to take advantage of using space stations in many more places, especially around stars especially because of the enormous energy output they have. I also like the Idea of them having fleets incorporated into their defense. It wou
